The uw reps have done their job by telling us that although their energy prices are dear, we should look at the broader picture and realise that they aren't so dear once the wrongly named cashback card is used. (Wrongly named because the idea is your "cashback" is paid by way of a credit on your utility bill. There is the major catch - you must buy the expensive utilities first).

Moneysavers who are happy to use a cashcard, (as opposed to a credit card), and accept the risks that come with them would be much better off not to go down this convoluted route. Research the market and discover that 5% off is the norm, and 8% achievable by paying in advance for your supermarket shopping etc(Sainsbury included as well as Waitrose, Boots etc etc)

There are prepay cards that you can use to buy goods at the same stores the uw has deals with, but you keep the discount yourself - meaning you don't have to be tied to uw at all.

You keep making these claims but never back them up with any links. I know you are pretending to ignore me so would anyone who wishes to see Quentin prove his claims challenge him, please?

How are you getting on with your "unhappy" customer you are helping out?
I sent an e-mail to Exec Services and would expect a reply tomorrow.

So you are telling us that had 100 "contacts" contacted you in response to your post, you would have just ignored them?
As I only offered the information to one person, I only got one PM. However, had anybody else asked me for it, I would have provided it for them. I did not provide Carmine with any links to my sponsored web site, nor did I try and solicit his custom. I am only sorry that I could not get it on to a Forum message so that he need not have had to go to the trouble of PMing me. Anyway, those I have dealings with are people, not "contacts". Your obvious bigotry on this subject does you no credit.

That is really not worthy of you! i.e. Trying to define 'competitive' in that manner.
I didn't. I looked it it up in, and, quoted it from my dictionary. :A

I just need to sit down and do the maths at some point.
Exactly. It may, or, not be for you depending on your circumstances. You are the only one who can decide what is best for you.

I am not being bigoted, just using the uw terminology we have learnt about - as you know, so by making that accusation you just seem to be trying to cause trouble.

You seem a loose cannon uw rep!

(We have learnt they call people they deal with "contacts", you don't, plus you say you have never heard of the uw martini presentation - I fear they will want you to go in for further brainwashing or ridicule, or whatever they do to any free spirits in their ranks.)

As far as abusing the pm system, don't you admit resorting to this when you say:
I am only sorry that I could not get it on to a Forum message

And why have uw given all their reps their new prices to show to "contacts", but seemingly haven't given them to the price comparison sites?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Could you ask your exec office to answer the questions about the "guarantee": define what they mean by "competitive", and if it's a real guarantee, how do you make a claim against it when it fails?

Absolutely. I PM'd Nigel and got a .pdf file to my email address. No links to websites, no phone numbers, no 'if you decide to go for it, don't forget me' nudge nudge wink wink etc etc. I note even a poster who has previously not exactly been what you could call a 'supporter' of UW and its distributors on here (bendtoy) was also so annoyed with Quentin's allegation regarding Nigel that he/she chose to publicly rebuke him for it. Says it all, really.

Quentin is becoming an embarrassment, even to the entrenched detractors. Increasingly reminding me of that glorous comic creation played by the wonderful Herbert Lom in the Pink Panther films. It's such a shame as with his analytical slant and copious amounts of free time you would think he would be a considerable source for good elsewhere on the G+E forum. Alas, he so rarely contributes on the G+E forum except to lambast UW in this thread. What a shame.

    BTW, many thanks Nigel!

When you look up the noun "discount", (as in uw discount club), it says:

"A reduction from the full or standard amount of a price or debt."

How does joining the uw get you any discount at all off your energy bills?

Isn't it just a meaningless expression, but cleverly designed to get attention?

As in "I just found a way to get your utilities for free" - just cynically designed to get attention!

I believe that there are others who share my opinion.

I have admitted that Utility Warehouse has faults. However, the benefits can outweigh any faults for millions of people in this country. The company has had good press from several different sources over the years. 83% of the customers who expressed an opinion in one publication are satisfied with what they get. 10% higher than the next company listed, 30% higher than the one in third place and 46% higher than British Gas. For many, money is not everything. For some, having the cheapest is important and they are prepared to accept restrictions on their habits in order to get that lowest price point. For those who shop regularly at Sainsbury's and a couple of dozen or so other stores, they can gain a price advantage overall.

I accept the restrictions and save some £4.50 every month on my utilities compared to "best buys" offered by another member of these forums. Yes, the original prices for gas and electricity were higher with Utility Warehouse. BUT, overall, I get THE CHEAPEST for me in my circumstances, including paying all fees. If I can do it, there are millions of other who can do it too, if they follow the guidelines.
