Thanks Hex. I literally cried when it happened, I was so upset. All that waste. Made even worse by the fact I had got the chicken for such a bargain yesterday.

Easily done - but still very upsetting. Having to clean it up just rubs it in as well.

I haven't been on here for a few days so a quick update on my spends.

£5.40 at M & $ - on the YS hunt again and did really well. 2 bags of the steaks (4-5 in each bag) was £12.99 each and I got them for £1.50. Quiche 10p, Chilli ready meal 10p, some bakery items 10p each, chicken dinner meal 10p, 2 x large Pork joints 50p each, 3 rib eye steaks 50p and a veg pot 50p :D Best it has been in ages!

Also £3 on bread, sausages and some salad.

I did managed 4 NSD's this week - which is a first for me.

I spent £3.30 today, on fish and chips as a treat. Was going to just be chips, but dd really fancied fish. She and I shared a piece o fish, and we all shared a small chips. Ds had sliced ham from yesterday, and we all had baked beans with it.

Having a picnic tomorrow (maybe inside!!), but no need to spend for it. Shouldn't need to get anything over the weekend, or if I do, it'll be a bit of fruit for packups next week.

Really stressful week coming up, not looking forward to it, but I'll know if I'll be able to afford food or not from September come Thursday evening! Have a job interview for doing three says a week, paid a touch more than what I'm on doing five days now! Plus, I'd have the extra two days for doing overtime/shopping/housework/chilling/homework/photography/craft/anything else. I'd really love to get the job as well, because I've always wanted to be one of the mums at the school gate, and I'd be able to do that up to twice a week. And I could go on school trips if they were on the right days. But mainly I need it for the money!

Had a parcel letter today, so have to go to the post office to get that in the morning, on our way to get haircuts and pick something up from freecycle. Need to do some major tidying and cleaning tonight, ready for visitors tomorrow...

    Night all,

    PG x

ps - was thinking of you yest Florenceem, glad it went ok.
Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100

    Hello!

A couple of extra spends to report today

    £2.24 in Mr S
    £8.13 in Mr W

Having pizza and salad tonight and linguine with chorizo, peppers and parmesan tomorrow.

Total so far this month stands at £66.47/£130 which is 51% of the months total but I'm 66% through my month. It would be nothing short of a disaster if I end up spending another 60-odd-pounds in the next 9 days, but I'm not tempting fate because it's happened before.

I'm okay for meat, other freezer food and most storecupboard items, but I am running out on coffee, toilet rolls (only 2 rolls left!), and have no lunch things or veg for next week in. I may take advantage of either a Mr T £5 off £50 spend delivery or Mr S free delivery when you spend £50 code I've been given (the delivery with Mr T is expensive on the times I will need it delivered so the £5 off basically just makes it free delivery). Just need to see how long I can hold off!

Good luck to all those on the job hunt. :-)

Thanks for the sympathy folks. The upside is a brand spanking new slow cooker I suppose :D Will spend the weekend surfing the web for the cheapest, biggest one I can find.

Penny Grabber, that job sounds ideal for you. Will definatly keep my fingers crossed for you.

Oh dear... I fell into the Friday trap - calling into the supermarket on the way home for some greek yoghurt which I didn't really NEED.

I spent £35, including some storecupboard and freezer bargains but... sigh. I was going to try not to spend anything this week.

So, next week I will try again. £10 budget for the week. I really do not NEED to buy anything so maybe I will manage it this time.

Does the quiche/flan set okay with just milk - I always use some cream?

Works a dream every time for me. 2 eggs in a jug made up to 3/4 pint with milk. Season as desired. :)

Just come in from mums. No pics as dad would have thought I was a nutter:rotfl:

Didn't have time to make up toad in the hole so they have has bangers n mash with a caramelised onion gravy and cabbage n carrots.

Pud was a brandy apple sponge with custard. Dad actually said it was "to die for"!:T :)

Shattered now. Made enough so that they have got the same dinner n pud tomorrow so I am having a day off :)
Nice to see Mum getting stronger :T
