April 2012 Grocery Challenge

No shopping again this week, I discovered that MMilkandMore had credited my account with the £10 originally taken off me when I joined last month, not used them since as I felt it was a con to offer this and then claim it back. So have ordered milk bread and eggs using this and that really is all I need. I only have another 7 days to the end of the month so am thinking I will carry on using up and then be three weeks budget in hand, best I have ever done.Slimming World at target0

This is the fruits of my morning labours. The front plate is mini salmon & broccoli tartlets and the one at the back is the same ingredients but made into a flan. There are 2 apple and plum crumbles behind ready for the over for baking!
Salmon & broccoli tartlets are so easy.
I normally just make up a quick batch of pastry.
Line my tins (cupcake tins are great if you are having a buffet.
I used a yorkshire pie tin which is twice as wide as a cupcake tin) or flan case.
Flake in some salmon (I use the pre packed trimmings as it is under a quid).
Top with the eggy mix (I break 2 eggs into a jug and add milk until it comes to 3/4 of a pint. Mix and throw in some mixed herbs, salt n pepper!).
Top with grated cheese and bake until golden.
Jobs a good un!
I had some leftover pastry so I also made some lemon curd tarts:
I photographed em whilst they were still bubbly and hot and still in the tin though:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Ohhh I could just eat a tray of those lemon curd tarts,
Jumblejack I think you should stop tempting me with all these lovely
pics, I am a, supposedly, poor old pensioner, but I think I am well off.
Love them really, keep them coming, God Bless You. megSlimming World at target0 -

Evening all, jusy updated with a small spend of £5. oh took his dad to asd@ today so i asked him to pick up branston beans and shreddies as they are on offer and some sausages that the kids like. popping to co 0p on the way to tesc0 tomorrow evening to see if they have some of the buy 1 chedder get 2 free. if they have i will buy 6 packs, a quick look at the website also told me they have supernoodles buy one get one free which depending on the price should work out cheaper than tesc0. no extra petrol as we will have to pass co 0p on the way. take care all.
ps jumblejack the tarts look great.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

I had to go to DD's to look after DGS today and realised I hadnt allowed for travel costs, so it had to come out of the grocery budget, so todays spends are £5.50 taxi there (at 6am), £1.90 bus back, £5.70 in Lidl as I walked home from the bus stop.
Cereal for brekkie.
LO Tuna roll for lunch.
LO HM lasagne from yesterday for tea.
Loving the food photos but it does make me hungry seeing them!
Quick question!
I ordered some meat for the freezer from D*nald R*ssell, payment will go out of bank now but I have opted for delivery next month (no room in freezer) so should I include it in Aprils budget (when I spend it) or Mays (when I get it and can use it) or 1/2 and 1/2???0 -
Florenceem, do you have a recipe or method for your apple chutney? Might have a bash if I get time next week.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

My month runs from the 20th so time to declare £281.84 against a total of £282 so 16p spare - I had been hoping to come in much more under budget but never mind, that wasn't to be the case - maybe next month!!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

A much less stressful day today thanks! I've just been so blimmin hungry! There was a lot of talk of bread and butter pudding at work today so had to go and buy eggs to make some! However, I ended buying a few ys bits in cOOp for £5.25. All stuff we need and it means I can avoid the big shops over the weekend.
So tonight was bottom of the fridge stir fry and back of the breadbin pudding! Tasty and has used up all the veg bits. Just need a few bits from the veg shop tomorrow and that should be everything until payday on Thursday!
It's definitely very inspiring and disciplining to be on this thread! Thanks everybody so far!0
