Florenceem - I just wanted to add my best wishes for tomorrow too. I'll be thinking of you and Mr F.
I can't remember the person that posted but I wanted to say thank you to the person that posted about the cheap toilet rolls in Superdrug - £2.99 for 9.
I would never have thought of trying there. Actually I've slipped into the habit of shopping in Boots for things I can't get at the SM. So it was good to be reminded of other options. Thank you.
I have £3.66 to declare. Im going to go over budget this monthas I've not paid my milk bill yet. And because DH and I both drink goats milk the bill will be about £20, although that also includes some juice and cheese that has been on offer.
So I'm trying to keep my spends at little as possible. Unlike previous months I'm not beating myself up at going over budget. Instead, I've taken the attitude that if I've gone over budget whilst I have been trying, Id have spent a huge amount more if I hadn't been trying.
Nite, nite

Spent £7.82 on Monday at Spur: milk, 2 x Pirk Farms medium pies, still on offer at a quid each! (1 for me and 1 as a gift) whoopsied Little Gems and a huge whoopsied, extra large baguette, 1kg Sp. offer rice, and £2.16  for sunflower oil, to make my own spreadable butter!
Collected a carrier bagful of young nettle tops from my garden and made some fabbo nettle soup, yesterday: nettles (pick over, wearing your Merigolds, ditch coarse stems, and pour boiling water over, drain) 3 medium potates, diced, 1 onion sliced, 3 cloves of garlic chopped, chicken stock or water, fresh grated nutmeg. Simmer 30 mins. Blitz, in blender. Serve wth cream and crusty bread, or wholemeal cheese scones. Dee-vine!
I have another 3 servings left, and loads more nettles in the garden - more almost free meals! And really good for me too.:ANeeds, NOT wants!

I completely cracked today and went out for lunch - it was that or someone was going to get hurt (most likely just a tongue lashing though)(honest). It's hand in week at work and it's been a little bit busy so I haven't had much in the way of breaks and worked late late last night and no proper tea (a whole other story of DH not making anything but managing to spend £5 on bread (how?!) when there was a loaf in the bread maker) and so i'd eaten today's lunch and snacks on the hoof before 11 and was still hungry and tired and a little bit miffed that my manager had somehow managed to avoid any work at all! So I took a long lunch...and boy was it worth it! I could have done it cheaper (although i had mocha rather than coffee and cake) but I'm claiming I was delusional from hunger and tiredness and wooziness brought on by the anaesthetic at the dentist this morning....£6.25 spent in Eat.
Is that a convincing justification?
And Florenceem, hope everything goes well tomorrow x0 -
OK... I give in! I can usually work out what the initials mean, but YS has me stumped. Is there a glossary anywhere?Needs, NOT wants!

I've been reading with interest those posts from people with £5 off vouchers etc. Just a thought, but it seems to me that unless you really have a need to spend £40+ (i.e. it's time to stock up), then you're in danger of spending more money than you would have...isn't this what the SMs want you to do??
Sorry, not meaning to criticise, but as I say, it's just a thought.
xx
This rings so true with me, got another voucher from Mr T today, £6 off a £40 shop, now I don't need to go but again am tempted by the thought of saving some money. The voucher is valid until the 29th so I will keep it just in case but have no intention of actually using it this time :rotfl:
Run out of pepsi max so £2.09 spent today (along with the MOC) and some biscuits for DD's lunch as they were half price. Have updated signature.
And call me sad (or nosey) but I just love to see what other people are having for tea, my girls don't like pastry so unfortunately I won't be baking any pies but jumblejack your pies look fabulous!0 -
I had to go into town this morning so dropped in at Al*i in passing to pick up a few fresh f&v and spent £8.20 plus some cake mixes to make up for a friend (won't count those as separate budget). I am really pushing the budget this month as there are two potential shopping days (Saturdays) to go before the end of the month. The last week should be interesting. I had a terrific home made veg. curry from the freezer tonight. It was very gingery and warming and I may make more if I can find the suitable ingredients without spending more. I have plenty of stores, it's just a case of planning and sticking to the plan!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I did a massive list in the Feb (I think) gc, I wonder if a kind lady would consider putting it on the front page? I know I've struggled with some of the acronyms before now.Living_proof wrote: »I have plenty of stores, it's just a case of planning and sticking to the plan!

(((hugs))) florenceem
tigerfeet hope its good news on the job front
lost track of my GC this month, we went away for a couple of days over easter and spent alot more on food than i thought we would , i now have very little in the bank account to pay for 11 days food , I do have a fullish freezer ( mainly meat) so i just need fresh stuff and animal bedding and food. will go to lidl later and see what i can get0 -
Hugs to florenceem and good luck to your DH on the job front Tigerfeet-it's tough out there at the moment so getting an interview is a massive thing. My budget seems to be getting away from me too this month so I think I will go over despite the fact I factored in extra for Easter. never mind as another poster said don't beat yourself up as before GC you would have spent a lot more. Anyway roll on the end of the month!!!!!
Have a good ay all , hope your weather is better than mine.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.
