There is a pastry bottom but I usually roll the pastry thinly as I use a half fat to flour ratio.

Mummyof5, I just used 2 packs of Tesco finest sausage meat (around 375g per pack). I grated 2 apples into the meat and added more mixed herbs and a LOT of black pepper.

The pastry was just one part fat, 2 parts flour and enough water to form into a ball :)

Thanks for the compliment. It was just an experiment inspired by florenceems tea!!! :)
Hi, its me your friendly stalker!, can i ask you do you cook your sausage meat prior to putting it in the pie pls........i will leave u alone now;)

I hope that Thursday goes OK for you both. It must be very difficult. Big hugs.
  • Florenceem - I too hope tomorrow goes as well as can be in circumstances.

    Morning troops!

Have had the kids home for the Easter holidays for the last two weeks so have had zero time for posting. They're back at school now so I will have a bit more MSE time. We were meant to go away camping but DH has injured himself, so we couldn't go. He spent the time filling in job application forms and writing covering letters ( with me proof reading them). He did 15 at last count  Most of them have a closing date of the 20th of April so it will be interesting to see what comes back out of them. He has had three rejections already but has had one interview which seemed very positive and we should hear from that within the next week. If he gets that one it will be life changing for us.

Managed to keep in budget over the holidays, which I am pleased with. Have to menu plan today and get the food order in.

Am off on the school run in a minute but will try and read and catch up with everybody's news during the day.

    :rotfl:

No. I didn't precook it. I just put the mixture into the pastry lined dish and pressed it into shape with my hand before adding the pastry lid and giving it an eggy wash to make it golden.

    :)
Guess you could grate onion in or even make it go further with a sage n onion stuffing mix. Either a layer or mixed in.

(If you have any eggs to use up, boil em and place into the centre of the pie to decorate and bulk out the slices)
