Yes, we both work long hours. And if I really pester him, he'd do it more often. But, to be quite honest, I don't wanna have to pester him all the time.
We both have our strengths and weaknesses. He really doesn't enjoy cooking, whereas I do (I just don't enjoy *having* to do it all the time). But he's a whizz with computers, anything electrical and seems to enjoy the hoovering (why?!). So he does that stuff. He fixed our internet connection last night. The plug on our modem broke (something had burnt inside it!), and he then went on a mission sourcing an old modem we still had, and some yellow wire thingy (yes, that is the technical term) and connecting it all up and getting us back online! If it had been left to me, I would've shrugged my shoulders, said 'oh well' and waited til payday before ordering a new modem! :rotfl: It doesn't matter as much to me, as it does to him. With cooking, that is reversed.

Only problem was I got involved with Uni work today and forgot to do casserole and didn't remember til it was 6pm - much too late to make casserole that takes 3 hours
.
Get a pressure cooker!
30 mins for a beef casserole. 30 mins for steak n kidney pud. Steam 3 different veg at once, in minutes. Save 2/3 on fuel and time!Needs, NOT wants!

Got a pan of spuds on the boil. Gonna make a cheese n onion pie today.
Will do one for us and one for Dad.
Mum is having an op today on her hip so dad will be neglecting himself
Got a glut of spuds, plenty of cheese and a couple of bags of flour so it seems like the obvious choice. a quick look in the freezer has revealed a couple of pots of creamy sauce with cream, bacon and a few different cheeses in the ingredients. I will be adding that to my potatoes, cheese n onions for the pie as a cheat

I freeze quiche - have had mixed results - some have defrosted absolutely fine, but one was a bit of a wet mush (though I still ate it, and it tasted fine...just the texture was a bit...wet:rotfl:.)
Not sure why the difference, hopefully someone will be able to tell us.0 -
After 4 x NSD's in a row, I went out today.......my excuse is I was making the most of the sun!
Spent £7.92 in 99p Store, 85p in Greggs, £4.00 in Poundland and £12.48 in Sainsbugs - signature updated.
No brekkie.
Scrambled egg, last bit of bacon and toast for lunch.
Defrosting minced steak and veggie mixture LO from last week, will add mash and bake so it will become cottage pie for tea.
And I have enough LO sausage and pasta bake from yesterday to portion up and freeze for another time.0 -
NSD day for me today :j:j
Managed to go up the town and buy lunch (boss's treat) and didn't buy a single thing at all from my own money. Go me lol
Made a pot of soup last night using a ham hough I bought at the weekend, plus lots of veg lying around the bottom of the fridge. That should feed us both tonight and tomorrow night.
Have told DH to make up bread using the Wright's bread mixes we have (thanks Lavanderbees for the 80p voucher :T) Hopefully he will have time to do it today, if not it will be soup without bread xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Abitofhelp, Where do you get your gammon joint from?
I have never cooked one. Nearest thing I have done is a ham hock from an organic farm that we visited once. It was amazing. Made the most amazing sandwiches and stock.
How many meals can you get out of it and for how many people?
Just trying to work out whether it is worth getting one to try!
Cheers

Spend of £1 for a tuna roll today
I normally bring in a packed lunch, but my boss had, last week, suggested we go out for lunch today at the local (yummy) cafe, but she forgot and I was hungry.
Talking of boss I still don't know if I have a job yet, sigh.
Edited to Add: PS, thanks so much everyone for your congratulations on my paying off my credit card - it was a big deal to me and I am so glad you understood!31.5/1000
