We're very lucky this week, we don't need much shopping at all. Yesterday we went out for a meal for OH's granddad's birthday, paid by him. Tonight we're going out for a meal for mine, my dads and brothers birthdays, paid by my parents. TOmorrow, my parents are cooking spag bol which we're having some of. Thursday we're using up the other half of the pasta bake jar which we opened last week. Friday we can use up something in the cupboard, and then Saturday and Sunday we're over the inlaws for meals :)

So hopefully I won't have to buy anything on the shopping this week. :) However, I am looking to do a big shop next week, and get stuff like grape juice (we haven't had juice for a while). Yummy.

Still piping hot! A bit of buttered wholemeal toast and a sprinkling of parmasan.

    Verdict: mmmmmm :)

Nooooo! Couldn't you have cooked it then proportioned it for freezing in useable amounts? Would have been perfect for sandwiches, etc.

Bless that was the point, the freezer is stuffed, just couldnt get a another thingin it. Must really use up for a week or two again, trouble is I just keep filling it up again.

Though, he does sometimes make scrambled eggs on toast, or beans on toast too, but usually after I've moaned at him for ages and made it clear he'll go hungry if he doesn't cook!

Know what really infuriates me about DH? He is an excellent cook!! I learned almost everything I know from him!!

But same as your's, his idea now of 'his turn' is ordering a takeaway. :(
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

I thought that if it was put into smaller portions, you could possibly squeeze it in better. It also shrinks to half its size when cooked (well, it does when I roast a joint ;)).

I often have to remove the boxes of items for freezing or divide them into smaller portions as I have a similar space issue despite having a full size upright freezer AND a full size fridge freezer.
(I sometimes wonder how I managed with just the fridge freezer:))

Im sure your daughter was extremely grateful for it though. I know I would be:beer:

Hello everyone, hope you all had a great easter. i have looked at the state of my leftover budget for the rest of the year and the huge amount i have spent in the last few weeks & i am making some changes. payday next week for me so i will be drawing £100 cash out of the bank. which will be used for basics as i have done a freezer(s), fridge & pantry audit. am very embarressed to report that all are full. i have enough products for breakfast, lunch and evening meals. however i will need fruit, carrots and pots and milk at the weekend though i will not be spending more than a tenner. £100 budget will be from 20th April for 4 weeks.
FrugalLina - well done you congrats.
Jumblejack - will be trying biryani this week sometime - sounds fab

I haven't stayed on budget (£25 to 15th April) but rejoining the GC has made me more aware of spending and instead of saying "buggrit I'll just get everything in Tesco" I have been very good and listed what I want from each supermarket, then got it.

Food shopping has been mostly within budget but I got a bit carried away buying chocolate (not egg shaped, I didn't fancy paying a premium just for that!) in Aldi. At least it's much cheaper than the brand versions in Tesco and it will last a few weeks.

Just fried off a pack of turkey mince with a packet of fahita seasoning, and will have that probably with pasta or pitta breads for about three days.

Tonight is the other half of the KFC I couldn't resist getting yesterday  At least it's lasted two days :rotfl:

Mine impressed me in the early days with his stir fry dishes! One of the few things he still cooks (when pestered), cos somehow I do it wrong! haha

Most infuriating thing for me is that, sometimes, he complains that something isn't as crispy as he'd like it, or it doesn't contain the meat he wants etc!:mad: He doesn't do it very often though, as I invariably respond with 'If you don't bl00dy like it, then don't bl00dy eat it! I am not your personal chef here for you to pass judgement on! Just be grateful!'. Grrrrr, that one really gets on my wick! I think he enjoys winding me up! No, no, he definitely does! :rotfl:

    hello everyone

co-0p - £7.11 (2 packs of emmenthal cheese, hovis bread rolls, hovis loaf, 2 tins sweetcorn, marmite)

    li*ls - £2.43 (milk,noodles,matches)

my 2 packs of emmenthal cheese were £1.05 each reduced from £2.19 each and also had hovis loaf 75p down from £1, and warburton rolls 49p down from 95p

not big reductions on the bread but they were needed anyways so i dont mind :)

dinner tonight is a "posh" freezer meal, took some burgers out of the freezer to defrost last night, they are aberdeen angus jalepeno beef burgers, £2.59 down to 69p in the reduced section a while back, so we are going to have them with the emmenthal cheese :) going to have broccolli and sweetcorn on the side

decided i need to start shopping for whoopsies more often, there arent always bargains but if i can get a bargain on meat and cheese it will cut down our shopping bill by a lot. i used to do the sunday reduced sections religiously, but havent for a long time...... think i know what ill be doing this sunday :D

    £21.20/£35.00 so far :)
