3 April - bought: dozen eggs, small cream, medium P Farms pie, (special offer £1 = 4 meals), value pate, all from Sp*r - £4.46 (while collecting mail order package of 2 x cheap jeans!) 12 mile round trip. :(

4 April - Went to nearer Sp*r/PO (4 mile rt.) to post grown-up kids and partners' Cad eggs with knitted egg cosies (used odds and ends of bright sock wool). PO was surprisingly shut! Bought needed milk - £1.55.

5 April - Postage for 4 small parcels £7.58 , above, but not included in GC! Half price Xmas pud (= 4 desserts) - £1.50. (4 mile rt).

Debating whether or not to take some junk to the tip, + charity shop items - (20 mile rt). If so, will do a shop at Mr M's.
    Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j
    No debts.

Just added on some spends from Mr a & Morrisons. I used a £5 off £40 voucher for Morrisons and I still have one left for Mr T that needs to be used by Saturday or Sunday but looking on their website I couldn't see much that was good value that I wanted to buy so may not use that one. Really should start thinking about what we are going to eat once my mother arrives on Saturday but can't be bothered to be honest as I know from experience that its never easy as we generally eat totally different things to her.

Today will have my 1st frivilous spends of the month! :j

Going out with some girlfriends, ages since we met so loads to catch up with.......I am allowing £20 for the evening, £10 for 2 pitchers of Spoonies cocktails and a meal and maybe some diet pepsi to dilute it ;)

I go out so rarely (30 odd year marriage ended recently so still trying to find a social life :o) so I dont have a budget for leisure or entertaining or anything, so I figure if it comes out of my purse, it can be included in the Grocery challenge for me!

Hope you have a lovely time and enjoy your evening.

Grrr Don't you hate it when recipes don't give you the right information  trying to make Salted caramel ice cream :D but the caramel seized when I added the cream. So I tried again and the same thing happened  An Internet search showed that the cream needs to be added slowly whilst stirring constantly. Neither of which were mentioned in the recipe :(. So I tried again and this time thankfully the caramel is a lot better. Not perfect but better.

I've just put the finished ice cream in the freezer and wow! It's gorgeous :). Certainly worth all that heart ache. Actually it's so nice that I'm kinda tempted to 'forget' to tell DH that it's there and eat it all myself ;)

    Wishing everyone a good day.

I've found some great meal ideas on here. Thanks. Such ardent money savers probably already know this but Kleenex triple velvet is always £2.99 for 9 rolls at superdrug. Much cheaper than most supermarket special offers and it is decent quality. They also usually have Plenty kitchen roll on offer - four rolls for £1.99.

A small £4.86 spend in the Coop today which is my nearest store but hideously expensive. Got a woopsied Elmwood chicken, pack of Indian snacks, baby leaf salad, 4 litres of sparkling water and 2 bananas so not OTT. I haven't been able to go shopping for a whole week due to car being sorted, but will do my main shop on Saturday in L*dl/Ald* as they are tons cheaper. Not that I need much!

Have lovely Easter all of you who are actually doing something with it.

Mrs moneypenny - yes the recipe is mine. It's one I've adapted from The barefoot Contessa. I'm happy to post it if you'd find it useful?

A huge Internet shop from Sainsbugs arrived today £126.81. I shouldn't need any more meat for the rest of the month, or much else, which is kinda handy since I've only £49.63 to last the rest of the month :o

    Getting nervous already

  • I have spent a fair bit of my budget now but we have enough in to get through Easter.

Went to Sainsbugs to get a few bits today as it's the last day we have a car (boo hoo, will have to wait till OH gets another job as cannot afford to run one on my salary alone). £6 of my total was tea towels which I thought was outrageous, swear they were marked up cheaper.

OH is off out for his leaving do tonight but I can't go as only his food and drink is paid for and we can't afford to pay for mine. Quiet night in for me and pup I suppose :(
