It should be noted that AOL in the UK is now owned by Talk Talk..cough..

I would advise members to do some research on Talk Talk before signing up for a year.
  • Have been with aol for 9 yrs and nothing has changed since they were took over by talk talk. Happy to stay for another year

So are you saying you are going to be getting 8meg broadband for 9-99 a month? as silver is only 2meg.
Have you got a job yet?

    NO? Then :shhh:
  • This deal seems to be only for existing members. I have been trying to get this deal for a month now with no luck, I even have my Mac code from my current provider still no chance.

Grrrr - I'm paying £17.99 per month, I've been with aol since 2000 and they will only reduce it to £14.99!! They say it's because of my usage, but, I think it's because they know I can't get sky broadband in my area so they don't have to compete!! It's crap letting some people pay less for the same service!

  • I've always despised AOL, but to be honest if you don't touch their software with a barge pole (a very long one), then its not too bad.

The only issue I have is they reroute ALL SMTP traffic to their own, very very flakey SMTP servers. In english, if you try to use your own email server, they don't let you. They automatically reroute all emails through their own server.

Which makes sending any large emails (or ones with a fair few attachments) near on impossible.
  • Oh, that and the tech support is far from being technical. If the word tech means 'to be able to speak and read English from a page'

thanks for the swift response Anarchist, my only experience of them was years ago when you could get a couple of months connection for free & then cancel it. From memory the software embedded itself in your pc and was difficult to get rid of.... The current offer of 2MB £14 unlimited does look attractive though!
