Going by the sound of what she IS doing I wouldn't worry. My DD is just turned 3 and still not walking but she does have a problem, at 16 months it was abundantly obvious that she was having major difficulties as she didn't sit unaided until 13 months and couldn't fully weightbear until about 15 months, she also did other things in an 'odd' manner as she is very hypermobile and bends in some very peculiar directions. Looking back now I feel that the HV's could have spotted things earlier (by that I mean at 3/4 months) as we were first time parents and just thought babies were bendy, but they had picked up by 9 months that we were going to have issues. As your DD is up on her feet (albeit with assisstance) then just enjoy the last bit of 'baby' before she becomes a full blown toddler.
Parents all seem to think that babies are walking at about 12/13 months however we were told the medical profession see 18 months as about an average.

Is 16 months a late walker? My son didnt start walking until 15months but went straight to running. He was the same with everything, he was slightly behind with talking, but when he started he went straight to quite complicated sentences. I think he just waited until he could do things at the pace he wanted to!! I really don't think you need to worry, it'll happen :)

no its perfectly fine. my daughter walked at 16/17 months, but i realised she was being a bit lazy and just cruising. once i banished the coffee/side tables to the shed for a month or so she started having to let go, then she got the confidence and off she went! My son, on the other hand, walked at 9 months. its def much easier when they stay where you left them!

Hypermobility runs in our family. My mum didn't walk until she was 4, but she played for the school netball team at her high school, so I guess it's something you can catch up with. No idea when I walked as my mum died when I was 21 and my dad doesn't remember.

My ds didn't sit up until he was 9 months old, and it took a lot of persuasion. He never crawled either, but would walk holding hands from about 15 months. He didn't walk by himself until he was 17 months. He is never quiet though. He was an early talker. On balance, I'd take the talking over the walking as my friend has a toddler who climbs on his toys to open doors and can climb over the fireguard.

I was an early one I think, about 9 months old my parents caught me walking and I promptly sat back down and refused to do it again for a good while (we're talking months). I was more of a fan of rolling everywhere!
Although then when I was about 12 months, in a pushchair on a family walk I decided I wanted to walk the whole 1 mile route, in my lovely new white shoes, not intended for walking!
    I think I was a slightly peculiar baby :)
My brother though, was quite late, about 15/16 months I think, I know my mum definitely found it easier with him!

What's the opinion of the medical profession? If the health visitor seems unconcerned, then you should be too.

My daughter didn't walk until 22 months. She never crawled - she shuffled everywhere on her bum
My son walked at 18 months, but I think only because he broke his arm and could no longer crawl!
