Under sink waste trap... Countertop dishwasher

Ok so I have bought the trap... however to connect it to the solvent waste I am confused as there is no screw on the side to connect to the solvent waste...
I have included a picture which shows the adapter (on the right) which then lets you connect the trap to the solvent waste however there is no screw down connector on the solvent side. It will secure to the trap as you can see easily. The waste and the connector push together but they are not a snug fit. Would PTF tape and ensure they are pushed together tightly be enough to secure this to the solvent waste connection?

No absolutely not. It will never work.
You need some of this:
or similar which will weld the two together.
Brush it on both the pipe and the fitting then push together. Don't make a mess of it or its alignment - it will never come apart.

I dont have any of this so what about some silicon sealant or something? If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Errm how can I put this succinctly and diplomatically? No! You've said its a solvent weld joint so, perhaps bizarrely, it requires solvent weld cement to make the joint.
As for silicone sealant think of it in terms of solving this little conundrum. I need to replace that broken window pane but I don't have any putty. I wonder if I could use vaseline instead?
Cheers
Edit you might get away with using one of these though
it depends how odd the size is of the connector. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -

Ok will Have a look round for this then.

Ermmm... your 40mm waste pipe goes into the compression 'nut' and is the tightened to make watertight - no need for any SW. What's the 'adapter' that is shown in your piccie from?
Confused

Errm no it doesn't because it's too big and won't fit.Ermmm... your 40mm waste pipe goes into the compression 'nut' and is the tightened to make watertight - no need for any SW.
To adapt the foreign piece of kit that you''ve recommended that doesn't comply with UK Standards to work with UK standard pipework. What's the 'adapter' that is shown in your piccie from?
Thats more worrying that you probably appreciateConfused

Thanks Key - loving your attitude.
Just couldn't remember how I made the connection - so now I see/remember what adapter is for. And wether it's foreign tat or not isn't really the issue - this is merely a solution to OP's problem/situation.
Solvent weld it is then Richard.
Let us see the finished result!

Onset of old age? This forgetfullness of yours is causing me some concern for your continuing well-being. Yesterday you forgot that the OPs idea is that the DW is to go slap bang under the sink.Just couldn't remember how I made the connection - so now I see/remember what adapter is for.
But I didn't say tat I said kit - eysight failing too?And wether it's foreign tat or not isn't really the issue -
Which, at the risk of repeating myself, is, IMHO, not going to work. Oh yes OP'll get it all connected up. Unfortunately any consideration of fluid dynamics in the working environment seem to have been thrown out of the window with great force the way this thread has developed. Plumbing is not just about joining bits of pipe together. Never mind.this is merely a solution to OP's problem/situation.
Compression would probably be better but as his instructions seem to say solvent weld thats what I have responded to.Solvent weld it is then Richard.
Yes lets.Let us see the finished result!

Can you reccomend a compression fitting I said solvent as there is no screw connection on the adapter but on the actual waste pipe that goes to the drain there is a screw connection...
Thing is this adapter piece is gonna have to be stuck in as cant find an adapter with a compression fitting.
Don't fall out guys... U have both given me some valid advice and I'm grateful. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0
