Think you'd struggle to get the existing hoses onto that - they usually have a 'rubber' end and two, side by side, would probably be too 'fat'. Cutting those ends off MAY lead to more problems getting the connections to seal..

Personally I'd go down the 'proper' route - needing to have two waste outlets on a kitchen waste is not unusual - and won't be seen as a 'bodge' if you come to sell.

Do it right - do it once. :D

Thank you, this also looks like an option and comes with jubilee clips to ensure a seal and can also fit two rubber bits side by side.

Hmmm.. just had a thought - will the washing machine emptying not backfill the dishwasher and viceversa?? (Maybe not full flow, but certainly to some degree)

Just ensure the two hoses head downhill towards the adapter as much as possible... and keep your fingers crossed!

Anyway - as it's not a new install and the installation is not subject to BC inspection then he can do whatever he pleases. It may not have a 75mm seal but I'm sure that doesn't matter to the OP.
Its got nothing whatsoever to do with Building Control but everything to do with having the proper depth of water seal to prevent syphonage with resultant nasty niffs in the kitchen and subsequent wringing of hands on an internet forum.
Sod the building regulations I need to get my dishwasher connected,
As above. Up to you it's your kitchen. If the only advice you are prepared to listen to is what you want to hear then so be it.

The Y piece thingy isn't going to work IMO. You won''t be able to get the hoses to make the up and over loop that is required for the machines to operate correctly which is what Russ is hinting at and I've already had my say on the use of the flat trap.

Having said that I'll be happy for OP if it does and certainly won't be crowing and playing the "told you so" card if he comes back and says it didn't but I can see this ending in tears.

    Cheers

This is the one I ended up going for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310331946124?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 it specifically states it for washing machine/dishwasher so if it doesnt work it will be going back & poor feedback will be given.
