    Morning all,
I don't have a group to go to and I would love to have one. I really can't understand why anyone would pay, weigh and leave - it's totally beyond comprehension. OK maybe once in a while someone has another event to go to or something but I would love someone who does leave every week to explain why they do so and what they can possibly be achieving from the group.

In addition to what other people have said above, I think most of the people who pay and go at our class are the ones who (if they do stay) tell of how they went out x number of times this week and ate and drank this and that. Tbh I can kind of understand why they don't want to sit there listening to the leader going round the class announcing losses when they know they haven't lost and know why, but that brings us back to the question we've discussed on here before of why bother going at all if you're not going to try? Another thing I find odd is that since I started there have been new members starting every week but a lot of them just seem to not come back, unless they come and get weighed then leave before i get there. There were 2 other ladies that started the same week as me but I haven't seen them again :(

Blodwen - you are hilarious.... I don't think my husband would be v pleased if I had 2 boyfriends round for a night on the lash! I did of course mean 2 best friends!

Lol, after reading it 3 times I realised that I was interpreting it wrongly but didn't want to judge anyone's lifestyle choice- you never know! :rotfl:

well i went to the doctors and he says i now have vertigo and has given me medication for that and says all the pain i'm having and the dizziness could be related to that....won't hold my breath!

Thank you all for your kind comments x

Hope the medication helps Vicki. It's a difficult one as dizziness and vertigo symptoms can be v similar to symptoms of other things but hopefully things will improve now.

Zippy - well done on WI. Good luck to those weighing today :)

RFD - good to see you back, and 2lb is nothing - you've done really well :)

Used the Endomondo tracker for the first time walking home from fat club on Mon, and used it again this morning to walk into work -I love the little route map it draws! Was 1 mile in when I remembered to start it this morning so if I add that on it reckons I will have burned 646 calories just walking to work! Walking home tonight so will try and remember to start it at the right time!

    EE today:
    B: Quiche, banana
    L: Quiche, salad, nectarine
    T: Soya mince lasagne
S: Yogurt, strawberries, Alpen light (3), Freddo (5)

HEs are a bit complicated today! A for milk and B for cheese, meaning that each piece of quiche has 1/4 cheese allowance and lasagne has 1/2. Once I'd calculated all this I realised cheese can technically only be a B on a green day :o but tbh I don't care as long as it adds up calorie/syn wise (will be getting enough fibre from veggies). Also approx 0.5 syns for Quorn sausage in quiche.

Have a good day all :)

Blodwen i've noticed that new starters rarely come back. Maybe some are old hands at SW & just want the up to date books to do it themselves?

  • How did ever manage to do everything before the summer holidays!
Trying to potty train youngest - seemed alot easier the first time round :o
Started doing the grocery challenge.. wow it really puts how much you spend on a daily basis on junk into perspective!!
And I haven't even started on Uni yet!

Annnny ways... Good luck PennyLane with your weigh in tonight. I hope you get that 1lb. Personally praying for a simple 1/2lb to get my 5 stone award tonight.

Vikki keep a diary.. so you know whats going on and then you can report back.

    Welcome back RFD

Beanie... keep plodding it is the only way to "get there"

KandFs - D - melon; steak, potatoes, veg; fresh strawberries
Made me hungry now. :( mmm steak... steak and wedges for tea tomorrow I think!

Zippy I think you might be right! I suspect that the metabolic burn rate changes with our loss so you can in essence eat more... for a while;)

Stay positive folks, its only food :D
  • Thanks for the welcomes everyone :j. I am looking forward to chatting with you all again on a regular basis :D

I think if i did return to the class then this would be the only reason for me think about re-joining. I personally found the sitting there for an hour pretty boring & it was irritating listening to people discussing what take aways they had at the weekend & how many glasses of wine they got though & then listening to their moans at 0.5 losses or a gain.

New starters come back in a few years.. "it didn't work last time but I wasn't in the right mood"

For me Slimming World (like any other lifestyle change) requires you to be honest with yourself. If you lie to yourself you are only cheating yourself. Hence the Food Diaries. It's easy to forget what I have snacked on. Keep a food diary for 2 -3 months and I soon spotted what I was doing wrong and where..then made the changes.
It takes that for the habits to be spotted...then you decide that you want to make a difference.

But is a "you" that makes it work. You that puts the time in. The book doesn't it justs give s you power to do so. Slimming World doesn't measure out your portions, or cook your meals. Wish it would...:D

It's all me (with a little help and support from you guys) that has got me were I am... And slightly big headed thanks to the "school gate mums" comments regarding the new "svelt me" :rotfl:

On such days I find myself planning menus mentally. :D It's not MY money they are wasting (be it on take aways or SW membership) :D
It did get to me for a while, but then that is their choice... They look at me (biggest loss in group currently) and hope to follow. I repeatedly point out that using a pot of Ragu is silly when they can chuck a tin of chopped toms in with oxo and oregano for half the price and twice the taste..:rotfl: sometimes it sticks..:rotfl:

    Great loss Zippy.
Yes, I do think some of those joining must come just to get the plan.
What does fascinate me is that the night I started there waa a lady who was rejoining after going over her target weight,AFAIK she has rejoined another 4 times since then. Its all about what works for each individual I guess.

That is crazy. Did she say why she thought she was going wrong each time?
