I think i need some money saving tips from you 2 !

    :(

Well, we don't buy bread, cakes, biscuits anymore. We just don't have them in the house. When my son comes for a weekend he says "I can't find any biscuits" and I tell him they're over the shop!!:D:D There is usually a loaf in the freezer for him to toast a slice or 2 as he needs it though.

We don't buy the thick, creamy yogurts either and the SW-friendly yogs I like are only £1.64 for 6. I hardly buy cheese now and a tub of butter-like spread lasts about 6 weeks because, since we don't eat bread, we hardly eat butter. We don't buy any convenience foods at all either.

My trolley is mainly veg, salad, fruit, lean meats, frozen fish, some diet drinks, jars of stuff like gherkins, red cabbage, roasted peppers (Lidl) which we love. Then there's our fave yogs, oat bran, skimmed milk and all the stuff like loo rolls, dog food etc.

RFD - Pre-SW I done a meal planner on excel, which I got from this site, planned my meals for 4 weeks, it produces a shopping list for each week, (you have to tick the ingrdients you require) it does take a lot of input at first but afterwards, so worth the effort as I could plan a weeks shop in 5-10 mins :j. I then spent a day batch cooking so we were still having nice meals when I came in from work & didn't have to slave over t hot oven for hours :D. PM me if you want a copy x

I plan on doing a SW meal planner as well as my DH eats most of the things I eat but not so much the kids, its just getting the time to input the recipe ingredients, I will get round to it soon, work is hopefully giong to be quieter the next fe weeks so even hope to input a few recipes a day ;)

We also buy bread, milk, usually enough to last 4 weeks & freeze it anddo a fresh fruit/veg/work lunch shop at Aldi on a Sunday

That looks very much like the way I do my shopping. I was thinking earlier that the only branded stuff I bought today was baked beans and bread. Everything else was fresh f & v or meat. Most came from Lidl with a small top up in Asda. Fortunately my DH admires my frugal shopping but if he was fussed about brands then, as we cook from fresh so much, I don't buy many for him to object to.

Ok, here's my first meal plan for your comments:

B mullerlight, banana, satsuma, apple, tea with milk from HEA
L home-made veggie soup, savoury rice ( no syns) pear sugar free squash
D spaghetti bolognese (will need to syn it as its lean mince, not extra lean, how much is that, we're cooking 500g for 4 of us?) salad, coffee with milk from HEA
S WM bread HEB 20g cheese from HEA, something from my treat box, depending on how many syns I've got left.

    How does that look?

That looks good mymamma. I looked on line and it said 2 syns per 100g for lean mince (but it said frozen rather than chilled). So I'd say about 3 syns for your portion. If any fat has settled (if it's already made) or you can pour any off when you're cooking then that'll help keep syns to a minimum. It should be listed in the back of your book. I'm no expert with the syn calculator.

    My EE menu today:
B: 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: half a melon few crumbs of HEA stilton
D: baked haddock, SW chips and cauliflower cheese
Syns: weekend wine:j cheese sauce (was going to forego this but decided it's extra HEXs and I am at target so I should have it;))

    Have a good time Blodwen.

    i survived! Well sort of!

Didn't drink any alcohol - was on sparkling mineral water all night.

Steak was lovely, but I did eat a few chips. I'm not going to stress about it - and I did cycle there and back again ( a good 2-3 miles )....

I had a really good time - not eveyone was out, but I managed to sit next to some of the really nice staff members so it was good.....

Have been for a walk this morning. Am currently sorting out littley who is out on a work related course today - she's 18. Then it's a huge pile of ironing...

Weather is good here - I have fingers and toes crossed that cricket is on this afternoon - which should get me a couple of hours in the house on my own.......

    I can't wait....

I'm glad you had a good time cyclingyorkie. I think your restraint on the alcohol was admirable and the syns in a few chips will hardly wreck your eating plan.

Meals all over the place here today. We're going to a football tournament but the times have been altered so that the Olympic Torch can do a circuit of the pitch during the evening. So it runs from 5.15 to about 9 p.m. We've decided to have a late, substantial lunch about 3 p.m. to keep us going. I'll have to take something with me too as I don't want to be tempted by hot dogs or meat pies! I think I'll make a pot of rice salad.

    Today's EE menu:
B: HEB porage, banana, HEA milk
L: HM chicken curry (with passata, onions, peppers and mushrooms) with rice
D: rice salad and half a melon if I'm hungry when I get home.
Syns: some low fat mayo for my salad and maybe wine if I fancy some later.

    thank you for that!

I'm not a killjoy when it comes to alcohol, but I do drink a lot less since joining S/W!

I was off the beer so that I could cycle - so much cheaper than a taxi - :money: and then I could choose my exit time to suit me!

Last night was not a pleasant time to be out in York - for one reason - York Races. And the restaurant we were eating in was on the way between the racecourse and town's hotspots. I was possibly the only sober person walking through town at 7pm going TO the meal :eek:...and at 10pm it was almost like walking through a warzone - Police, Fire and Ambulance Service all evident...

    Afternoon all. :)

I lost 3lbs at weigh in on Thursday, I'm chuffed with that. Having a lazy day today, just enjoying chilling with OH and the rest of the family.

I'm loving all the shopping tips, thanks all! :T

Beanielou, you're right. It took more than the odd day or night out to gain the weight for most of us. I hope the funeral was okay and not too upsetting for you.

Cyclingyorkie, I'm glad you had a good time. The streets around the races can be horrible when the races are on. I'm glad you got home okay!

WI and I've STS. I think its a combination of my body going into the drop loads then STS then drop loads again cycle and the fact that at work I'm up and down 3 flights of stairs carrying files all day everyday so i must be building my leg muscles up at quite a rate.

i feel like i'm that little bit smaller and my pants are looser so i know at least something is going on somewhere.
