Blodwen if you take a friend to your group you get a week free at the moment.

    EE for me again

    B. Banana & 2 satsumas with ff blackberry yogurt
    L. Chicken with rice & veggies. Mixed berries & ff vanilla yogurt 1/2syn
    D. Chicken with mushrooms, onions,peppers & tomatoes & pasta
    S. 4 ryvita & 6 EL triangles (HEA & B)
    Milk for drinks 1 syn

    Total syns 1 1/2.

Vicky you need to give your body time to recover. You have hammered it over the past weeks/months & now it's rebelled.
Cancel the RFL & put your health first.

    Well done starfish :D

I always remember years ago I was in a health food shop with my son and he said the dried figs looked like dog's bums:eek: Well done on all the losses everyone.

Presumably it was measured by conductivity/resistance? I'm not sure how accurate those things are. I would have thought it was % by volume and other body parts weight more than fat which would distort it etc etc but a quick google tells me it's by weight. Still, if 'normal' BF is around 25-30% and yours is 42% you wouldn't have to lose as much as you thought to fall into that bracket.

May be completely wrong here but will ask OH tonight and see if he knows any more about it - let's see if his PhD in obesity biochemistry is of any real use ;)

Thanks. Would be interested in what he thinks. Given peoples reactions i am thinking that gym lady has definitely played it up a bit :undecided. My BMI was 31.8 i think which puts me in the obese category but I think my height also plays a big part as well because i am 5ft.

Just to follow up as promised - asked OH and he said the same, i.e. it's not massively accurate. Conductivity can be affected by things like water content, and since water's a conductor if you are dehydrated it will give more resistance and therefore a higher fat reading. Saying that, it does give an indication of the true result (and we can't all be going for DEXA scans, the gold standard!) so can be useful, especially in looking at % change over time rather than absolute %. I would use it in the same way as BMI - useful as a guide but don't take it as gospel.

Just been into the work kitchen to prepare my breakfast and another colleague asked if I'd lost weight - that's 2 this week :D Turns out she joined SW last night as well. The other colleague who asked on Mon said she might join when I told her what I'd been doing - SW should pay me commission! ;)

    Anyway, green for me today:
    B: Bran flakes (B), milk (A), banana
    L: Mugshot, pitta (B), nectarine
T: Soya spag bol, cheese (A)
    S: Pineapple, Freddo (5)

    :)

Just spotted this. Thanks for asking your OH about it. I wont worry too much about it then.

I did think about that but said colleague lives quite far away from me so wouldn't go to the same group. I have been thinking if there's anyone who lives closer who I could get to come though (and OH says I'm stingy) :rotfl::money:

Welcome to all the newbies as well

  • Vicki, I'm definitely with the others here - do not even think about doing RFL - your health is far more important and you have to try and get to the bottom of this. Can you go to another doctor or another practice and get a 2nd opinion?

I agree Vicki, you will do yourself more harm than good, your body needs time to recover
