Weighed in last night after two weeks/weigh ins away from class and put on half a pound. I'm pleased with that since I have been away on a short break to the Lake District, had my OH's birthday with huge chocolate cake , a couple of meals out and general jubilee/bank holiday madness. I.e. out of routine, lots of social stuff - catching up with friends/family etc.
BUT feeling positive... I think ? and hoping to get back on the wagon. Going to take each day as it comes and hope for the best.
Anyhow.... have a question for you all. Whilst visiting sainsbugs last week, I bought two pairs of the same trousers and a suit jacket to match. All half price. So £30.50 for everything. The suit jacket fits but will fit even better when I have shifted a few pounds and can do the button up comfortably. The trousers fit (now) but I've bought the size that fits me at the moment and this isn't the size I intend to stay. So there is a good chance they won't fit me in 2-3 months which is fine but I will then have a suit jacket with no matching trousers!
As I mentioned, I bought two pairs (didn't occur to me to buy the next size down as well but as they were sale items, I don't remember seeing the next size down?). Anyhow, I'm waffling .... (sorry). The point is, one of the trousers has turned out to be faulty but I think would be easily repairable i.e. simply sewing up where the stitching has come away. My :money: hat is telling me that I should return them since (1) they are faulty (2) they are unlikely to fit me sometime soon but at the same time £9 is not bad for a pair of work trousers and they are comfy albeit a bit more wide legged than I would like so I can't make up my mind what to do and thought I would invite opinion....0 -
take them back and try and exchange for the next size down!Mediterranean Mum

Morning all, just checking in from hotel room before I go off to some farms...
Yesterday was a good SW food day:
b - mullerlight, banana
l - pasta n sauce, strawberries
s - mug shot
d - (buffet at meeting) 4 quarter sandwiches (2 slices brown bread HEB, chicken breast, scraping of spread (3 syns?); carrot sticks, celery, cucumber batons, 1 chicken leg with skin removed
Black coffee and diet coke to drink all day
Today I have had breakfast - grilled bacon (no fat), beans, mushrooms & tomatoes though I have a sneaky suspicion there was a wee bit of oil or butter on the mushroom (3 syns?)
Hope everyone's well - I will look out for the protestors on Leek roundabout and given them a slap on the way past for you!Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Oooh, and it looks like I need to go and buy some new work trousers cos the ones I have on today are gettingg v baggy and are in danger of falling down (good job I have child bearing hips to stop them slipping completely!) - the reason I am so chuffed is that I couldn't get these particular trousers up over my thighs let alone get them anywhere close to fastening in JanMortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Hello to all the newbies, this thread is great, I'm not a big poster but read every day and am always learning new things.
I'm another one that writes everything down in a notebook, although I can get away with not bothering after a while. For me, I know the syn values in pretty much everything I eat, I also tend to rotate my menus so know exactly what I'm eating - maybe I should be a bit more adventourous!!
Well done to all the losers, and the STS's. I've been on plan all week so am hoping for a big loss this week. I am really starting to enjoy exercising again. I did my second night on The Biggest Loser game on the Wii complete with warm up and cool down I did a whopping 48 minutes :T and felt soooooo good afterwards.
Well done on getting back into it as well MedMum! :T0 -
got my "Slim for Life" booklet for target members at group yesterday,
some very good tips in it, anyone read it yet?
i was 5lbs below target, and only put on a half pound, so the consultant adjusted my target, but there was only 6lbs between the old target and my new one (so i now have 1.5lbs to loose to new target)
i thought there had to be 7lbs between targets, but in the slim for life book it does say that unless you are "fine tuning" your final target, there must be 7lbs between targets,
so i guess i am "fine tuning"
i had never heard this before0 -
Welcome to the newbies and well done to the losers!
RFD: Keep going with the figuring out why you eat- you will get there!
Flat Eric - Well done one the half pound, great over 2 weeks with all that going on!
Piglet- 'fine tuning', I like that!I can't get my head round Extra Easy and like having more of the Healthy Extras so I have stuck to Red or Green days.
How do you all keep track of what exactly you are eating syn wise? I find the online diary very time consuming and annoying to fill in - I have got the Food Directory from ebay. I would just like to know how you all keep a grip on your syns!
I assume as I don't have much to lose I should be keeping my Syns low but Im not sure how many I should have a day - 5 or more?
Bacardi, when I last joined SW, about 3 years ago, they had recently brought in EE and I was very suspicious of it because I'd only ever done red or green. I only lasted a few weeks before I quit class, but I rejoined this April. This time EE has really been pushed, which I think is a bit unhelpful, but have to say I have really warmed to EE. I don't do it every day- a usual week would be something like 4 x EE, 2 x green, 1 x red, but it's really handy for certain meals. It's a personal choice but I also find it makes me eat more fruit and veg and I feel better (and fuller) for doing so.
Many of us write our menu plans on here daily, and I use that as a starting point for seeing if I'll be having any syns in the day and how many I have left for the evening. When I get home from work I write them on the whiteboard in my kitchen along with any shopping which I think of during the day (God I sound so organised...and so anal, lol!). Do you know how many syns you've been having? If you think you're going over 15 maybe try to stick strictly to 15, and if that doesn't work try 10 - I personally wouldn't want to go below 10 regularly.
Today's plan: EE
B: Pineapple, strawberries, quark
L: L/O Southern fried-style chicken, salad, dressing (0.5) Crackerbreads (HEB)
T: Quorn stir fry with either noodles or egg fried rice
S: Pineapple, Kit Kat (5.5), French Fries (4.5)2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Forgot to say, don't know if this has been mentioned on here or not (apologies if it has) but in my class on Mon they were talking about the recipe for KFC style chicken coating, which is what I did last night. To be honest I'm not a fan of real KFC (only ever been once and wasn't keen) but to me this was more like baked breaded chicken but with more flavour. I used crumbled up chicken stock cubes (one per chicken breast), about the same amount of instant mash powder, a bit of Tex-Mex seasoning (or Cajun spices), and some garlic granules. I didn't coat in egg or anything first, just coated the chicken in the mixture then sprayed it with fry light and baked as normal - was delicious and even OH (who is somewhat suspicious of anything SW friendly) liked it! Another one mentioned in class was syn free gravy using beef stock cubes with some mash powder to thicken it, but haven't tried this.
Oh, just thought of something else (on a roll now - tell me to shut up if I'm talking nonsense! :rotfl:) - for stir fries etc we usually use a sachet of sauce between us (5-6 syns per sachet, didn't think that was too bad), as we (well, OH mainly) find just garlic, soy sauce etc a bit bland when the veg hasn't been cooked in oil like in a restaurant/takeaway. I caught a bit of the Gok Wan cookery prog a few weeks ago and he was talking about the 'holy trinity' of Chinese cookery - garlic, ginger and spring onions - but also soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. I have had some rice wine vinegar unopened in the cupboard for ages but finally cracked it open - what a difference! I think it was the addition of that and the ginger that really made it taste 'Chinese', although obviously all the ingredients fuse together to make it. Best of all, syn free. Will be doing our stir fry like this tonight2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
