Feeling like a domestic goddess right now!:)
Had a cooking session today. Boiled up a turkey carcase (left from Sun) and made a wonderful stew which we've just had some of for lunch. Almost syn free I believe and my own recipe.
I boiled the carcase with an onion, carrot and S & P and a couple of bay leaves. When it was cooked I picked out all the bones and gristly bits, kept the meat and added ...... more onions, more carrots, celery, pearl barley, parsley, a courgette, some potatoes and a tablespoon of chicken gravy granules - so that's the only syns I have to count, divided between 3 of us.
It was delicious.:j
We are going out for the day tomorrow, so I also made a huge SW quiche to have when we get home, so there's no excuse to reach for something quick and fattening.;)
I am SO hoping for a loss tomorrow night.0 -
Good luck Scrappie - sounds like a plan! Things I always try to have in the house are frozen cauliflower (love snacking on roasted cauliflower), frozen onions (to make pasta sauce - saves standing chopping onions), tinned mushrooms (I throw them into everything), lentils (lentil soup), eggs (I eat tons of these a week!), watermelon.
Pennylane - great idea to make supper before you go out - wish I could get my head into that space!Mediterranean Mum

Hi All
How are you? Welcome newbies :hello:, well done losers , and commiserations to those who have STS or had a gain (hugs)
I hope no one minds but just want to get my thoughts down , as i am trying to break myself out of bad eating habits and hope this will help.
So woke up this morning after going to bed early last night, slept all through the night but dont feel like i have had ANY sleep. I have been very tired all day, so tired infact i have had a coffee that wasnt decaff (normally always have decaff coz normal stuff keeps me awake). This is very unusual.
I have been keeping track of times when i feel like junk food and have noticed that i want to eat when -
1 - I am tired (like today)
2 - When i am hormonal
3 - When i am stressed/worried
4 - When i am bored
So thats me pretty bugg**red then because that accounts for a large percentage of time :(
The first & the latter i seem to be OK at handling - for example i have been dreaming of all things chocolatey today. There is STILL some chocolatey birthday cake in the fridge from last week and i very NEARLY had a piece this morning but i resisted the temptation because i knew i wanted a piece because i was tired rather than because i was hungry. *pats self on back*
The 2nd two are harder to deal with but for the moment i am not stressed or hormonal so not worrying about them just yet.
I am doing a red day today so my menu is as follows -
B - 30g of all bran golden crunch and skimmed milk (hex a 1 & b 1) with 2 slices of turkey rashers (they needed using)
L - Tuna salad - rocket,mushrooms, sweetcorn ( 5 syns ), carrot, tuna
D - chicken stirfry - no noodles or rice. Just the stir fry veggies & loads of chicken
snacks, apple, pineapple, muller morello cherry (light) greek yoghurt (1.5 syns), 2 original ryvita with a pot of light philli cheese (2nd hex a &. That will do me for the day :A

Thanks guys!
Roasted coli- sounds yum, never done that before. Do you use any spices on it before you roast it??
Weetabix - need to add that to my list!
Planning on making a syn-free soup to have for lunch during the week. Got some vegies left that I don't want going to waste. Have soem chicken thighs/ drummers in the freezer, so am planning to make 'KFC' type chicken for Sat night. Going to buy a large potato and use that to make chips - as my HE for that day.
Anyone got any good recipes that they always fall back on?? I love to cook, so don't mind if they are complicated, but easy is always good!!
I have a real weakness for H*ribo sweets. Found a jelly sweets recipe on-line. Anyone ever tried these?
I know - I'm all questions, sorry:o

I use a mixed sea salt, black pepper, lemon and seaweed mix that I got in Morrisons (own brand). I sometimes add garlic salt too. Then spray the whole lot with Frylight and roast.
If you're making soup add lots of lentils with all the veggies - it bulks it out and makes tons of portions.
There are lots of recipes on another thread. Go to page one of this thread and there should be a link to the recipe thread.Mediterranean Mum

I think you may need a trip to the doctor - I was feeling like you tired all the time even after 12 hours sleep. Turns out I have very low Iron levels which I now have to take a tablet for - so might be worth getting checked now as a precaution0 -
Hi everyone Im a newbie to this thread but have been reading through it - so far Ive got to page 100! I lost weight with SW about 12 years ago and loved the ease of doing Red or Green Days. Ive just joined online as I can't make the classes near me but like other posters have said I dont find it a user friendly website at all.
I can't get my head round Extra Easy and like having more of the Healthy Extras so I have stuck to Red or Green days.
I had a good 6lb loss the first week but put on 2lb the second week (I did have a couple of social events and wasn't very good at moderating my alcohol intake) stayed the same last week but I think I need to be a lot stricter on my syns.
I don't have much to lose - probably about a stone and a half but I do have very high cholesterol and my excess is all round my middle - which my doc said is the most unhealthy place to carry weight - so Im really hoping that SW will help me lose my spare tyre and reduce my cholesterol.
How do you all keep track of what exactly you are eating syn wise? I find the online diary very time consuming and annoying to fill in - I have got the Food Directory from ebay. I would just like to know how you all keep a grip on your syns!
I assume as I don't have much to lose I should be keeping my Syns low but Im not sure how many I should have a day - 5 or more?
Anyway thank you all for posting on this thread - lots of good meal plan and recipe tips on here0
