  • Please don't feel stupid RFD. You know sometimes it's easier to pour out your feelings to people you are less connected with, who are nameless and faceless.

I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing that there was more we could do to help at this terrible time.

Have a safe journey home and keep strong especially for your mother who is certainly going to need you to help her through this.

I want to kick start my weight loss this week, so going to try some Body Magic. Don't do any exercise really, any ideas of interesting ways to get moving? Don't have money for gym, classes etc.

I started off with a 10 minute walk in the morning -and I have built up slowly until now - about 15 months after I started I walk for 2 miles before breakfast and do another 2 in the evening if i can.

I have lost 14" off my hips and have the best legs I have ever had - and i'm 50!

So get out there and start walking..

Do what you need to do RFD. Grief, especially sudden grief, is so very hard to handle in any circumstance, but when something like this happens there are so many emotions you just don't know what to do with yourself. There's no guidebook. I imagine googling might take you to some specific support sites for your situation that might help you til you can get to your family.

When my mum died I went for a walk in the park the next morning and sat at the cafe. A little old lady came and sat down next to me and just talked and talked; it was wonderful and I still think of it as someone that my mum sent to make me feel better. There were so many strange connections and comparisions and coincidences as she talked that it was like a complete balm to my very raw state . I'm not religious but at that moment I felt very comforted by the thought of something other than earthly life. You take what yuo can, when you need it.

You don't need to explain a thing RFD, if you draw comfort from 'talking' to us then please continue to do so. There is always someone on here willing to listen.

RFD -my thoughts are with you. Such sad and distressing news for you and your family.

You say you need to 'be strong for your family', but please, please take care of yourself too. Part of 'been strong' is making sure you are fit and well and able to be there.

I too am on my own, I'm an only child and have also had some very distressing news today (mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer). I find the best way to keep track of my own thoughts is to write my feelings down. Seems like nothing while your doing it - but boy does it help me.

You just sometimes need that outlett for your emotions where nobody will judge you and you dont have the worry of upsetting/ stressing anyone - a bit like coming on here.

    Have a safe filght.
