I wish you could all smell our evening meal. A SW Goulash is just about ready and there are some jacket spuds alongside.:j
Lunch was spent watching my Mum eat fish and chips while I sat there with a salad and fishcake. But it was OK and I'm getting used to it now. My SW book estimates 7 syns for a fish and chip shop fishcake.
Have to go, I am starving tonight ...............0 -
Hi everyone, is there room for one more on this thread. I started SW on Wednesday and did a 6 week countdown (so got a week free of very money saving.) Just can't seem to believe what i can eat and still lose weight. It seems too good to be true but they say believe in the power of free foods and i am doing just that.
My bf just made the delicious Chicken Tikka Masala curry recipe from their website and it was free of extra easy and delicious.
I hope i lose weight on my first weigh in - i should do as i am sticking to it.Trying to save money and always open to ideas and expecting our first child in March 2015.0 -
I'm sure you will Schumie! I'm only a couple of weeks into EE and have lost 5 lbs and am eating really, really well.
I think using the SW recipes is a great way to start because they are so delicious and healthy and it saves a lot of messing about wondering what to make alongside what (if you see what I mean). I just flick through the recipe books, find something and make it. Job done! Breakfast and lunch are easy enough but we do all like a really good meal at night.0 -
Thanks Pennylane i am excited and know i am eating so much better already. I'm on page 3 of this thread - another 178 to go! xTrying to save money and always open to ideas and expecting our first child in March 2015.0

Dear god woman don't read the whole thread! We talk a load of nonsense most of the time:rotfl: I'm sure you have much better things to do with your time. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Have a great time in Scarborough jill. I'm another who went off plan for holidays and still got to target. I decided that if I felt too deprived I'd probably give up so I kept to my treats. Weight put on quickly generally comes off quickly so I wouldn't worry about it. Personally, I used to eat virtually syn free all the week and then have lots of treats at weekends. It helped me hugely to have something to look forward to.
Sorry to hear you keep sabotaging yourself mm. You've been such a great support on here. Is it the wrong meals or snacks that are your downfall? I was wondering whether some batchcooking for the freezer might help. That way if your meal is preprepared you're less likely to cave into something else. I know you have family at home but any way you could avoid buying 'bad' things?
Just catching up on the weekend postings. I keep trying to analyse it Maman and just can't understand why I keep looking for excuses and ways to stop myself doing this. It's a pattern I've had for all of my adult life - do something, achieve something, get praised for something, then throw the towel in and go back to square one! Only once have I been able to diet successfully and keep the weight off and that was before I got married and never had much to lose anyway.
I resent the fact that I don't have a group to go to but I'm not going to get together with other people here who are in the same situation - I've done that before and they just fizzle out. It's the same if I go walking with people - they eventually drop out and then I think well if they're not going then I'm not going either so I walk on my own.
I have my own business, work from home, and have very little free time. I am full of good intentions but just can't seem to make the commitment. I want instant gratification and when I don't see significant losses on the scale I give up and then go in the complete opposite direction.
I love food and I love cooking. However I have chronic back and pain issues which often means that I can't stand for hours cooking much as I would like to. I spend a fortune on fruit and veg and mostly use them but at the same time I will grab a snack of crackers and humous rather than make something more SW friendly. As a rule I don't have the wrong things in my house - I just eat too much of the right things with added syns (if that makes any sense).
I know I'm whinging and bet you're sorry you raised the issue Maman. However I'm still here and still trying to get my head back in gear which I think is better than nothing.
This morning I walked for 20 mins (a walk that would normally take me about 7-10 mins but I'm suffering badly with my back at the moment). I've had a banana and FF vanilla yoghurt - let's see what the rest of the day brings.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
While I'm catching up with all your posts, I thought I would just post to ask if you could all share one SW meal that is your absolute favourite. Something that you would rave about to a new member. It doesn't have to be anything cooked, could simply be, I have porridge for breakfast.
thanks FE for making me think about this too - couldn't have come at a more opportune time!
Vegetable Frittata has definitely got be up there on top. I've not made it for a long time and feel I should get back to it. It's so easy to make and so easy to get your 1/3 SF veg in there too.
A few months ago there was a recipe in the magazine for tomato ragu. I used to cook up a batch every week and freeze it in portions for use during the week - it's great on its own with pasta or used in a bolognaise sauce or as a base in lasagne. I'm definitely going to get a batch going this week. I've adapted it a little to get more SF in and use a bag of ready chopped frozen onions.Mediterranean Mum

One of my favourite recipes is Salmon cooked in the oven, wrap it up in foil with a load of pak choi, garlic, ginger and fish sauce.
I have that with vegetable stir fry, mushrooms, pepper, asparagus, spring onions, mange tout (whatevers in the fridge really) rice noodles (2 syns) fish sauce, oyster sauce (1 syn) and soy sauce. Delishious!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -
Had another nice surprise this morning.
The weather was a bit better and I tried on a shirt which I bought a couple of months ago (only Car Boot but a gorgeous one). When I got it home it was pulling all across the bust and back and the bottom button I couldn't do up.
Tried it this morning and it was perfect. :j Then I got out a pair of jeans which I always wear a belt with. Last time I wore them was in March to go on holiday to Tenerife and could only do up belt on 2nd hole. Today I was comfortably on No 5 hole!!
I've only lost 5 lbs so far but this is spurring me on.:)0 -
morning everyone. It was our local Gala yesterday which is the highlight of the year and always results in much alcohol being consumed.
Foodwise I was on plan until 2.30am this morning when i gobbled up an egg mayo sandwich and a handful of peanuts  drinkwise was a very different matter - started on the red wine at 1pm and had about a bottle and a half over the next 8 hours at a friend's house before I went out to the pub / gala dance with hubby and I had an uncountable amount of gin and diet irn bru before stotting home at 3am
I know that social drinking is my downfall - I have stopped drinking in the house (I used to be v partial to red wine in front of the telly) - and we have had a lot of social events on in the last month which has really knocked my weight loss. However, we have to live and I enjoy my booze.
Nothing on socially for the next couple of weeks though I am away with work for 2 nights this week and 3 nights next week which can be tricky to choose wisely but I'll tryMortgage Aug 22 £280,000
