Have a great time in Scarborough jill. I'm another who went off plan for holidays and still got to target. I decided that if I felt too deprived I'd probably give up so I kept to my treats. Weight put on quickly generally comes off quickly so I wouldn't worry about it. Personally, I used to eat virtually syn free all the week and then have lots of treats at weekends. It helped me hugely to have something to look forward to.
Sorry to hear you keep sabotaging yourself mm. You've been such a great support on here. Is it the wrong meals or snacks that are your downfall? I was wondering whether some batchcooking for the freezer might help. That way if your meal is preprepared you're less likely to cave into something else. I know you have family at home but any way you could avoid buying 'bad' things?0 -
While I'm catching up with all your posts, I thought I would just post to ask if you could all share one SW meal that is your absolute favourite. Something that you would rave about to a new member. It doesn't have to be anything cooked, could simply be, I have porridge for breakfast.
I'm counting down to getting properly back on plan and know if I'm to succeed then I need to plan my meals and menus. I have a busy couple of days tomorrow and Sunday but then its back to workand back to reality/routine.
Clothes shopping yesterday reminded me that I'm not the size I want to be at the momentand I'm hoping that by taking a bit more care in my appearance and the clothes I wear that I will feel better about myself and will care more about what I eat. I have my holiday in a few weeks and it would be easy to relax/leave SW until after then but I will try hard not to do this and instead aim to lose a few pounds instead. My holiday is self catering and we have already decided that we will be eating in (instead of eating out every night like we used to do) so hopefully I can manage the week without going overboard on the syns.
ps Has anyone been watching secret eaters and what are your views on the show ?0 -
What a good idea eric and good luck on your plan:
I haven't got a particular recipe that comes to mind but I love the fact that you can eat 'normal' food on SW and loads of it.
So favourites for us would be (almost completely syn free) :- gammon steak with tomatoes, mushrooms, peas and SW chips
- fish (baked) with mushy peas and chips
- HM curry with rice and chips
- roast dinner
- spag bol
- chilli
- stir fry

We discussed secret eaters on the past page or 2 flat Eric. They are all a bit crazy/deluded.
I like to make a big pot of syn free tomato and red pepper sauce, I then freeze it in portions and use it as a base for other dishes.
Pasta just with the sauce
Sauce with mince and mushrooms to make bolognaise
Sauce with mince, kidney beans and spices to make chilli
Sauce poured over grilled chicken served with green beans and potato wedges
Chicken, onions, peppers fried in frylight coated in paprika and a little sauce mixed through
Ad infinitum
Makes loads of different dishes for very little effort.
Basic sauce is
Onions
Garlic
Red peppers
Passatta
Herbs of your choosing
Salt and pepper
Splash of balsamic
I blitz mine smooth but you can leave it chunky if you want. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

I've caught up on the secret eaters posts. I still have several pages of other posts to catch up on but back sore and brain tired so going to retire to the sofa soon so will save that for sunday. I am finding the show interesting and informative. I found last week's episode fascinating where the lady was eating healthy salads but adding spoonfuls of mayo. When I'm at the pub its very easy to get through several of the salad cream sachets - one sachet is 2 syns so 4 sachets of the stuff and thats your syns near on for the day gone! I do wonder whether the filming/representation of what they eat is in any way glamorized for tv but its more the science/psychology aspects that I'm enjoying the most so I shall stick with the programme.0 -
