Thanks:A. The jeans are still a little snug - but heck I want to get maximum use out of them before I have to trade in for another size :D...though that maybe wishful thinking - a comfy 12 would make me very happy - just 2 more lbs then I have lost my first stone

I apologise if this has already been asked. But I wondered if slimming world is good for someone who wants to lose weight in specific areas... eg, wanting to lose weight but not masses?

I am classed as a healthy weight, and most see me as slim. But I have a huge tummy that makes me look unproportened. I am currently working hard at the gym, but struggling to eat healthy and I know the things I do eat are probably counteracting all my hard work.

I wondered if it would be a good idea to use the slimming world shakes and bars etc until I have lost what is needed whilst feeding myself with much more healthier things?

as far as I know there are no SW shakes? not sure if with bars you mean the hi-fi ones?

also re loosing weight/fat in specific areas: I 'think' it's 'proven' as not possible as your body decides for you :p

however I swear by sit ups :p I used to do 500(but crunches as full ones are not good for your back) a day and my tummy was the best part of my body :p but then I also have the 'hourglass' figure :p:o (not so much now)

I guess you have nothing (but weight) to loose in trying SW? :) eating healthier will do you good too :)

whatever you'll decide good luck! :A

    Hi rainbowdreamer,
Personally I would not go down that route. The only problem I see with having shakes and bars is that it's not a realistic long term way to eat and stay healthy. It seems to be one of those faddy slimshake or similar, so you lose the weight only to put it back on and more when you start to eat again. Lots of pain but no gain!
I also am not sure if there are any slimming world shakes? The bars you need to buy from the SW class.
If you go along to a class and stop for the talk with the consultant who will go through the books with you, then you can ask all the questions that you need answers to. They will tell you properly. If you like what you hear and see, then you can join, so long as you are at least 1/2 stone too heavy? maybe someone could correct me on that one, but there is a minimum standard.
If you do join then you will get all the literature and know that what you are doing will be in a safe and healthy way.
You also get lots of support and encouragement from going to class and staying for the talk after weigh in.
I do believe ( for myself anyway ) that staying to class is the key to success :rotfl:
More importantly there is also the support of some absolutely cracking people on this thread who will help you along the way with lots of support and encouragement. Any questions you need answering and there is a myriad of answers.
Hope this helps you make that decision.
As far as I'm aware there are no diets on this earth that specialises in weight loss just for specific areas.

    Good luck :D

I had a nosey online with asda and they have slimming world tubs.. strawberry or chocolate flavour. I am sure it said milkshake.
I know that toning my tummy wont get rid of the fat, but is something I need to do whilst losing iygwim. I need to lose the weight first. I just want to lose it in a healthy way. I know I will probably lose weight in others areas aswell as my stomach, but am working on toning other areas to, to ensure I am healthy.

It has been an interesting couple of days...

Firstly I should say that it struck me the other day that I don't want to do slimming world anymore. I'm fed up of having to count syns and having to watch what I eat. I feel that trying to stick to the plan (and failing miserably) is proving counter productive because I end up getting frustrated and cross with myself and I end up eating far more than I would do normally. The old montage of its turned into a bad day, make the most of it.... springs to mind.

I really enjoy the social side of SW. we have a fantastic consultant and the members are great. I have made some really great friends and have many slimming buddies.

I would like to think that if I gave up attending group, I would stop fretting, I would stick to plan and the weight would finally shift. But something also tells me that if I gave up group, I would have a really mad 2 or 3 weeks, put on even more weight, be even heavier than I am now and have no motivation or support to help me shift it. After going to group every week for yonks now, I fear that I would suffer withdrawal symptoms! :rotfl:

so going to suck it and see for the time being. Have at least two weeks left on a countdown but fear whatever weight I lose between now and my holiday (in around 10 weeks time) will all get put back on when I'm staying in self catering accommodation but eating out and having holiday treats. So I'm worried already that in 11 odd weeks time, I will be where I am now except it will be summer and I still won't have anything to wear!
