  • Unfortunately some of us are just not as fortunate as others and it can take weeks to move down the scales. I find that really making sure that I drink 2 litres of water a day helps enormously. I've also started walking - 35 minutes three times a week and not only have the scales moved but I do actually see (and definitely feel) the difference.

Keep with it and you definitely lose - remember 1lb a week is 52lb a year which is 3 and a half stone!

Talking of coke/pepsi anyone any theories on loosing weight if you massivly cut down on diet coke?

I've never been brave enough to give up the coke, although before sw I was following a low carb diet where they did not believe in any sugar-free substitutes at all so it was full fat coke all the way. I didn't do as well following that plan- hence why I moved onto sw. And whilst being on sw have had the best weight loss, and as I said have drunk pepsi max all the way through it.

But I would be interested to hear of other people's opinions, if it meant dropping an extra 1lb/2lb a week I may well give it a go.
  • Apart from rotting your teeth and putting an inordinate amount of sugar in your body (not a good thing), there's nothing wrong with it Becks!

    Morning all

On the coke debate... I had a real coke habit before SW - it had to be fat coke though, none of this diet rubbish! I obviously have an addictive personality though as I find that for some things - namely chocolate & fat coke - I have had to go cold turkey and cut them out completely as I can't seem to do measured amounts.
Diet coke doesn't float my boat at all and so the only fizzy drinks I have are sparkling water (either plain or flavoured), the occassional diet fanta and when I am out slimline tonic or diet irn bru in my Gin! :D

Good luck to all those who WI today. x

has anyone got any ideas about what would do the worst damage to my eating plan from the menu at La Tasca?
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
  • CY, I don't know anything about La Tasca but if it's Italian (which it sounds) then I would have some kind of a salad (with dressing on the side) for starter and then pasta with tomato-based sauce for main - these will do the least damage.

    But enjoy yourself!

Thank you so much for your kind words and advice gettingthere54. I have such a long journey ahead of me that it feels pretty daunting at the moment. I have set my self a mini target - 2 stone by mid June (daughter's graduation) and would love 3 stone by 14th August - wonderful holiday. I haven't set my final target as it seems like an impossible dream but feel that I have similar scale start and finish numbers to your good self.
At the moment I am very motivated to keep going but know that I am only a Crunchie away from the slippery slope to choccie heaven.

it can be very daunting, take it from someone who started out 41 weeks ago at 18 stone 1lbs

i could not even face setting a target,

i said i would loose a stone in 7 weeks, that was my first goal, then club 10, then just half stone at a time,

    41 weeks later i am 8.5lbs from target (11.12)

i can be done, plan ahead, if you take lunch to work, make it the night before, leave something out of the freezer in the morning for your dinner in the evening,

drink plenty of water, eat lots of fruit and veg, get plenty of exercise, and avoid white bread like the plague!

    well...thats what i done :D

    everyone is different

i can honestly say, there is only one thing i have totally cut out of my diet, and thats white bread, everything else, beer, wine, curry, crisps, chocolate, i still have, and count as syns,

but white bread hasnt crossed my lips since last july, and i was addicted to it.... big time! i really didnt think i would be able to manage without it, now...i dont even miss it at all... i dont miss how rubbish and bloated it used to make me feel:eek:

good luck with it all, small steps at a time, you will get there with all the advice and support there is here, from all these wonderful people :A

I got off to a flying start in week 1 with a 4lb loss and was very happy. Weeks 2 and 3 I stayed the same and just couldn't understand why as I had been very good on the whole with only a couple of minor naughties.

My group leader studied my food diary with me and made a couple of suggestions and I lost half a pound in week 4. More studying of the food diary and a few tweaks including dropping the syns to 10 a day and week 5 (yesterday) I lost 1lb. A total of 5 and a half pounds in 5 weeks.

I must admit I am very disappointed by the speed of my loss as I have not cheated at all during the last 3 weeks. My group leader studied my diary again yesterday and said it was perfect - there was not a single thing she could suggest to improve it.

It is hard to sit in class and listen to all those 2 and 3lb losses and not be a little envious.

My group leader said that some people just lose slower than others. She once had a lady who seemed to be doing everything right but lost only half a pound a week - but she did lose it every week.

I really hope I am not one of those people... :(

This week I shall keep doing what I am doing but will try to add some exercise into each day to see if that helps and I will pick out a couple of the SS foods and see if that helps too.

I'm doing EE and have about 2 stone to lose.

I'm one of those slow losers. I know lots of people say they've got a slow metabolism but mine's actually been measured medically and it's horrible. 1,150 calories a day is my 'resting amount' - ie the amount I need to eat to stay the same weight if I just sat around all day.

It's so low that the only answer for me is exercise, and I've had to come to accept it. I bet if you add some moderate calorie burining exercise into your routine this week and keep eating as well as you have done, you will have a great loss next weigh in. Chin up!
has anyone got any ideas about what would do the worst damage to my eating plan from the menu at La Tasca?

La Tasca is pretty horrible for this diet - it's all deep fried or dressings. BUt I would suggest anything from their salad line (ask for the dressing on the side so you can control it), or if you're hungry, a paella. All the tapas are no-nos because of the oil, as far as I can see. Ooh, apart from the baked langoustines. THey look nice! Hope that helps!

    Hi

    Can anyone help...

I had SW quorn chilli and wedges last night for tea on EE- which was 6 syns as i have my HEA and HEB for breakfast daily (ceral and milk). I am guessing the wedges were the 6 syns worth i have some leftover for tonight but thought i would boil some pasta up to go with it... would this therefore be free on EE or would there still be syns to count?

    Thanks
