Wow there were a lot of posts while I was away yesterday - lovely to read of all those losses (no matter how small).
I was reading about the coke/diet coke dilemma. I sat yesterday at the BBQ and looked at a bottle of diet coke on the table (the real stuff never did it for me - way too sweet) and managed to keep myself away from it. Whoever is struggling with it please try and keep away from it. It's evil stuff and will do you no good.
If you don't like plain water (and many people don't) then find a low cal concentrate that you can add a bit to the water to add flavour. You'll feel so much better for it.
If you're having trouble weaning yourself off the coke/diet coke, pour half a glass and add water to it and slowly dilute more and more on each glass until you manage to cure yourself of the addiction. That's how I did it and it really did work.
If I drink anything fizzy now I find it just too much and feel my stomach bloat immediately.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
Morning all - can't remember who posted what ( 2 pages of reading first thing in a morning who needs a newspaper
)
I hope there is tea on for anyone who has more than a 15 minute wait at weigh in!
:hello:Hello new peoples!
I agree with medmum, For those that like coke but can't stand diet (me too) try the Ribena Really Light (On offer in Asda ) or No added Sugar. both are free, can't taste the yukky sweetners and supposedly (as yet unproven) super speedy too.
Better yet, slice of lemon in warm water with breaky good for the detox, cold water and a slice of lemon or lime is perfect on a hot day... not that there is one of those coming any time soon!
One of the bad things for me on SW is it has reintroduced the diet drinks to my diet, and I hate the chemicals in the diet stuff. Avoid them where ever and when ever I can.
Just a pound... I remember poo pooing such a tiny amount till I saw a piccy of how much a 1lb of fat is... didn't fit in the persons hand yuk...
Syns. to use or not to use. I declared that I was going to reduce down my syns this week for a higher weight loss next week (I WANT my two stone award!!!) the consultant gave me a very heart warming caution.
Habits take a lifetime to build, don't expect to change them in a month. If you are here to stay, don't play with your food. Find meals that you like use the syns to have the meals you crave (cheesey stuff for example, proper creamy curries etc) Weight loss isn't a race. Your doing so well - 1 stone 12lbs in only 9 weeks! - because your focused. Stay focused, it will all come off as you want it. Mess and stress and you'll see the scales show it too.
Very sweet of her, but worth sharing for those of us that are eager bunnies. I had to remind myself WHY I decided to join... long term changes not a quick loss for a photoshoot (tempting!)
managed to get 30 minutes on the wii yesterday - rain makes it impossible to walk the 5 mile round trip to school with the kids..0 -
Hello Slimming World'ers
It has been two weeks since I joined SW so thought I'd share my 1st 2 weeks with you.
1st week I lost 2lb & at todays wi was -3.5lb :j So although I've got a long way to go, it's going in the right direction.
I must confess that I am a Coca-Cola addict so giving that up has been hard & diet coke is just not the same. I was going to have a Coke using syns but don't want to get a taste for it again.
Good luck with your weigh-in's
I'm not a fan of diet coke, but i do find the taste of Pepsi Max to be more acceptable...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Good morning losers!
I am going for a green day today, a first for me. I'm making a massive pot of veg soup. I was going to make macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight......any decent recipes around, I've seen one on slimming eats site but not sure if that is going to be all that good? I think on green you are allowed 2 hea and 2 heb is that right? So I can double up on my cheese allowance in my mac and cheese if that's the case.
B - fruit and fibre, milk from 1 hea
S mullerlight strawbs and grapes
L veg soup and a small wholemeal roll
D mac and cheese
Snacks will be mango, banana and strawbs
Does this look ok for a green day, any improvements I can make?0 -

Thank you so much for your kind words and advice gettingthere54. I have such a long journey ahead of me that it feels pretty daunting at the moment. I have set my self a mini target - 2 stone by mid June
Snap my son graduating in July although I know it wont be two stone off by then, would be nice if it was tho. Am looking at how many pounds I have to lose and just doing 5 at a time. So now I am looking at getting below 50 and into the forties it just so happens getting to 50 pounds will be my first stone. Lots of mini targets. :TTotal weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Hi everyone,
I had my first weigh in for sw, and I feel a little disappointed as I only lost 2Ib, I really thought judging by how I feel that I had lost more than that.
I suppose a 2lb loss is better than a gaining.0 -
I got off to a flying start in week 1 with a 4lb loss and was very happy. Weeks 2 and 3 I stayed the same and just couldn't understand why as I had been very good on the whole with only a couple of minor naughties.
My group leader studied my food diary with me and made a couple of suggestions and I lost half a pound in week 4. More studying of the food diary and a few tweaks including dropping the syns to 10 a day and week 5 (yesterday) I lost 1lb. A total of 5 and a half pounds in 5 weeks.
I must admit I am very disappointed by the speed of my loss as I have not cheated at all during the last 3 weeks. My group leader studied my diary again yesterday and said it was perfect - there was not a single thing she could suggest to improve it.
It is hard to sit in class and listen to all those 2 and 3lb losses and not be a little envious.
My group leader said that some people just lose slower than others. She once had a lady who seemed to be doing everything right but lost only half a pound a week - but she did lose it every week.
I really hope I am not one of those people...
This week I shall keep doing what I am doing but will try to add some exercise into each day to see if that helps and I will pick out a couple of the SS foods and see if that helps too.
I'm doing EE and have about 2 stone to lose.If you're not scared, you're not paying attention0 -

Oh dear, I feel your pain, look at my loss 2lb, 1.5lb, STS and 1lb last night but it is coming off so we should be happy. I'm going to try at least 3 green days to see if that makes a difference next week. MSEr "gettingthere" said that a 1lb a week is 52lbs that's almost 4 stone in a year. Maybe try the green days combined with EE days. I'm reading there are a lot of people who say EE doesn't work for them. It is working for us, just slowly. My consultant also said that sometimes smaller losses are easier to keep off, I don't know if that's true or not. Stick with it YOU ARE LOSING WEIGHT AND EATING A GREAT SELECTION OF FOOD! that is as much for my benefit as it is for yours, we need to remind ourselves of that and stop giving ourselves such a hard time!
Edited to add that I've been doing exercise for the last 2 weeks, upped my water, upped my fruit intake SS fruits too - loads of raspberries and strawberries. To be honest I don't think the exercise has made a jot of a difference in weight loss, I may be losing in cm/inches though, I didn't measure myself when I started. My clothes feel a bit looser but not a massive difference yet.0
