  • Hi guys, happy new year! I'm a total newbie to beauty boxes, I have subscribed to love me beauty and birchbox. Getting really excited, just hope they are value for money. It's my little treat to myself every month. If anyone has any other boxes to try or advice it would be greatly appreciated x

I subscribe to Glossybox as well as the other ones you mentioned. It can be a bit hit and miss in consistency, but when you get a good one it really is worth the money.

For the most of the time you get some really good things.
  • Just picked my you beauty choices. Was going to go for the nail polish, but didn't realise it was snakeskin effect, and I hate snakeskin with a vengeance! I think it looks tacky and it makes me feel sick (hate snakes!), so I went for the first choice, body lotion 30ml and the shampoo and treatment duo 50ml, can't remember the brands? They seemed the best choices, as I've got to admit, the other choices aren't as good size wise.

I picked the Essie nail polish, as after looking at my chipped black nail polish decided they could do with some bling. :D

My 2nd choice was the green tea gel which I've used before, and like. I nearly went for the shampoo, and conditioner but have so much to use already couldn't justify. Def worth the £6.95 imo.
New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

I will if you'd like, if you haven't already got someone. :)

ETA: I think you just need to PM me your email?
  • After finding this thread I have just signed up for birch box and can't wait to receive it!! Thinking of subscribing to another one aswell, are there any that you recommend around £10?

Also does anyone know of any promo codes for money of first boxes? Then i have an excuse to get lots to help me decide :)

Sorry for the delayed replied - I used the highest price I could find as I have to admit I've always assumed that's what they did - tried as much as possible to get the prices from the official sites as well so not to get knocked down or sale prices.. I would actually hate to think what it would have come out as if I had used multi pack prices :/ xx

I actually ended up questioning them about this over the Christmas period and they confirmed that they use the RRP, so even if a product is on sale at half price somewhere they always use the full RRP. They base it on what the product is actually worth, not what you can buy it for at a discounted price.

So, I ended up buying one of their boxes for my niece (the Make Me Christmas Box), and she really loved the baking kit included so I have bought her more already as they have a 50% off sale on so thought I would stock up for birthdays etc :)

To be fair, they were very helpful when I queried the prices and the box arrived promptly, so I have had a good experience with them!

After all the hype about a January detox box I was really disappointed with YBD selection, usually I want everything on the short list this month I was just like whatever. Wouldn't really want any of those products but seeing as I was already billed I went for the shampoo conditioner and the body milk. Gonna cancel now I think and see the feb short list first x

Shame you didn't look before you were billed and cancel in advance.
Just so others are aware you can easily cancel for one month (or more) and then rejoin. It's really easy.

I really liked the products this months and with 50ml shampoo and 50ml conditioner and 13.5 (large) nail polish I don't understand comments about small sizes.

I may have to cancel though, because like many of you, I simply have too much stuff :-(
