I wouldn't mind any of those taxesCOOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »We normally buy our fags at the petrol station etc, but with the increase of 37p a pack, we used our booker wholesalers to get buy them so after the increase duty was added we save approx over 70p per pack....
love us or hate us smokers...... we have been punished enough with the smoking ban in pubs etc.... which now is having a knock on effect with pubs closing at an alarming rate.... the increase on duty on the fags etc.... and as someone rightly said.. the government makes a huge amount for the kittie from smokers.....
Yes i have cut down loads..... BUT if i want to give up completely it should be MY choice, not being squeezed for forced to give up...but then i should imagine if all smokers gave up tomorrow.... then you non-smokers will have to pay for the lost income the government will lose.....
Flip they have allready started on the kids and the elderly.. by not increasing min..way and pensions...
Maybe mobile phone tax?
Fast food tax?
pet tax?
(my cats aren't pets, they are rodent population controllers

I sat inside the pub Saturday afternoon, wearing Chanel No5 and drinking overpriced fizzy mineral water with a slice of lemon getting bored.
I had one packet of Kettle Chips this week which makes me less of a glutton than the people on here stocking up on boxes of sugary chocolate via Amazon. I wasn't overweight because I ate a lot, I was overweight because I have a misfunctioning endocrine system just like my nieces.
I didn't attack anyone on this thread personally. But actually, this is a virtual forum and I don't know the people who attacked me for not liking smelly chavvy smokers, thankfully.0 -

I am not a 'smelly chavvy smoker' i am just a middle ages woman who owns my own business, who smokes and eats loads of meat...and yes was a bit of a party animal in my time.... who cares what people like you think... live and let live I say..
and by the way the stench of gone off/stale perfume isnt very flattering either, in fact i would go as far as saying it ranks just above cat's piddle in the fowl smelling scale.... so i would put toooo much chanel no 5 on, and dont breath on anyone with your 'crisp breath' as that is a really off putting too:D
Edit..... you were prob bored in the pub on saturday.. as there were no smoking party animals there.... lol....Work to live= not live to work0 -
I get annoyed that I can't sit at outside tables for lunch/coffee/drink without being subjected to smoke at a pub or cafe.
Well go and sit inside where the smokers can't go since the smoking ban came into effect after the anti-smokers all whined about smokers in pubs, clubs and restraurants and demanded they take their smoking outside.
Personally I get annoyed that I can't sit at outside tables because there's some non-smoker out there who wants it both ways.0 -

lol, yeah I can see its the non smokers whining.
you see Im not a non smoker
Im me,I simply don't smoke
I don't need some label to go with it.
you have the option to smoke or not.so deal with it
pay the money, shorten your life and deal with the rules that come in.
try and be a bit more considerate with your poisonous emissions though.0 -

There's nothing in your post that actually points to anything I said in mine but I'll do you the courtesy of responding anyway.
In this context society recognises you as a non-smoker, whether you choose to accept that label or not.
I do indeed have the option to smoke or not but thanks for pointing out the obvious. I don't have a problem with the rules that come with it, I've never been an indoor smoker and I believe the rule is to smoke outside these facilities, which is what I said. If you want to go to rule following then please point your comment to the anti-smoking poster I was replying to who complains that she can't sit outdoors because of the smokers.
I've only ever been an outdoor smoker, I don't smoke in the car, I keep my distance from other people while smoking, unless they're smoking with me or choose to approach me while I was already obviously smoking not that I need explain myself to you but I do like uppity non-smokers telling me that when they don't know me. So try and be a bit more considerate with your conclusion jumping.0 -

Well aren't you the life and soul of the party! :rotfl:Seriously though Edwardia, you DID attack people on the thread, saying that all smokers are 'kipper smelling chavs' is like saying that all drinkers are 'bench sleeping alcoholic tramps' or other such rubbish. You're entitled to your opinions but your views are extreme and your manner of putting them forwards is rather brash and no doubt offensive to a good many people who read them. Sorry to say this but I'm sure a majority of people wouldn't want to sit near you inside or outside a pub!

lol, you're the one withe the angry language in your posts
I dont socialise in pubs but welcome not having to be around smokers elsewhere.Well go and sit inside where the smokers can't go since the smoking ban came into effect after the anti-smokers all whined about smokers in pubs, clubs and restraurants and demanded they take their smoking outside.

all?demanded,whining?
non smokers(as you refer to them) don't want it "both ways"
they simply don't want engulfed in a foul smell whilst enjoying a drink/meal that they are paying for.0 -
Generally they don't though, as it's been banned inside.non smokers(as you refer to them) don't want it "both ways"

Not great for non smokers that if you sit outside at a pub or restaurant, then you get horrible smelling smoke drifting over you, but better than before, when you got it inside and outside.
I would have though most restaurants are non smoking everywhere?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

There's nothing angry about it. If you're reading the post as angry that says more about you than it does me I'm afraid. I do admit that I wouldn't normally talk this way but I'm trying to be concise in my posts as text can be easily misread.all?demanded, whining?

It's not how I refer to them, it's a general descriptive term for when talking in this context, as I previously pointed out. I don't consider myself a non-driver, I simply don't drive but when I'm asked within that context I am labelled a non-driver. I'm quite sure you know that though and you simply want to get as much meat from that bone as possible.
What I'm saying is non/anti-smokers complained that smoking inside these facilities was detrimental to their health, I quite agree. The majority of this section of the public didn't like the idea of smoking areas or rooms as the smoke could still drift into the non-smoking areas and therefore we quite happy that smokers could go outside. I remember reading many a gleeful post on the internet that smokers would have to stand in the cold, wind and rain. I'm more than happy to do that myself, I find these places stuffy and too hot.
If they don't want to be engulfed in a foul smell whilst enjoying their meal then they have the option of eating indoors where they claimed they wanted to do so, without the foul smell, in the first place.
They complained that they wanted to sit indoors but didn't like the smoke and smokers should go outside, now there's complaints that they want to sit outside but the smokers are there. That my friend is wanting it both ways.
There's lots of things I don't want in pubs whilst enjoying a meal I've paid for. I don't want peoples unsupervised kids running around and under my table, I don't want to listen to Frank Doberman ranting and swearing at the table next to me, I don't want to have to smell some of the atrocious perfumes and aftershaves all mingling together like some kind of chemical weapon but alas, it's something I have to put up with if I choose to put myself in the environment they frequent. Likewise if I choose to sit inside then I know I can expect smoke-free (which is preferable while eating my meal) but if I choose to sit outside then I need to expect smoke, or car fumes, or the smell of burning circuitry from the nearby recycling plants.0
