if it wasnt for beeching i could easily catch the train to work each day
as it is if i went on a push bike i would probably last a month before i became a drain on the nhs because some moron ran me off the road
so i like a lot of people have to use their cars

    as for KierNet
I've said a few times, but driving is a privilege

i guess that person must live a priveledged life in his walled enclave and not need to ever go outside without james at the wheel

People saying they can't take public transport as it takes too long, surely if its cheaper, its better?

It costs me £20.00 in petrol to come to work for a week and takes about 30 mins

On a bus it would cost me £26.00 for the week and takes 1.30 mins :p

Unlike me, yes I do have a choice and my car is cheaper (unless you take in to account tax, insurance etc.) I feel sorry for those who don't have a choice, poor bus routes or live in rural areas...

But if they lowered fuel, what whould they increase to compensate?

Eggzackerly... fags and football springs to mind as I have no interest in either of them. :p
  • Bad news on the fuel duty front - I think we're in for a significant rise in fuel prices over the summer. I think it wont be long before we hit £2 per litre.

The problem is we will stand for anything in the county, in other countries they would be burning down the petrol stations in protest!

if the government had to run a business they would be bankrupt in under 12 months....these public school boys have no idea about the real world!

was going to throw a petrol bomb but couldnt afford to fill the bottle...

I'd like to put these MPs (and Kiernet) into one of the rural west country villages with one bus a week (on market day), then make them get to work before 9a.m. in the nearest (usually over 10 miles away) town and back again after 5p.m. without a car, then have an evening out without car or taxi.
Then maybe they'd change their minds about the need for cars.

There is no secret they'd have to get the money from somewhere. Income tax would be the best place. That way everyone pays their fare share and the cost of everything doesn't need to go up to pay for it.

I know income tax is an unpopular way of raising money but in reality it would solve the problem and SAVE us money on our living expenses at the tills.

Let it. The summer is a period when families usually go out and spend money which keeps the economy going. Let it hit £2 per litre and completely flat line the economy causing the country to derail itself. Maybe at that point people will learn to stand up to their local representative MP and demand something is done about it. Maybe people will learn not to keep playing ping-pong between Labour and Conservative parties with their voting slips.

In fact, I'm so hacked off with this country I HOPE it does it £2 a litre. The faster the better because it will cause riots and all sorts of unrest across the land.

If you ask me, no MP should be allowed to remain in parliament once their party has lost an election or been voted out of government. That way they'll stop being so self serving. We also need yearly general elections so that these sharks learn that they're just as vulnerable as we are.

No, that way, only the working would pay.

When was the last time you heard of benefit claimants and asylum seekers paying tax?

Depressing times, with pay freezes and cuts why isn't this reflected elsewhere! Can hardly afford to use my car anymore! Moving to Dubai is tempting! Tax free pay and dirt cheap fuel! Sickening how much this country rips us off, keeping us poor! No wonder people give up on their jobs and claim benefits! Hardworking people have nothing to show for it anymore... Moan over! At least I have a job I guess!
