I like the way that road tax is going up with inflation - I wish my wages would match inflation. I'm getting poorer and poorer.

  • No!!!! I was so pleased with the increase in personal allowance, and then I saw this epic rise. As I have a 75 mile round commute each day, motoring is my biggest expense. I'm trying to save for a house deposit, and it's restricted by my motoring costs...

Isn't there a push at the moment for people to go on more UK breaks and Holidays ?

I live in Birmingham and a day trip to the nearest seaside resort is no longer affordable. No wonder they are dying off :(

More people doing weekend/day trips = more businesses staying in business and employing people :)

Am I the only one that can see this ?

Sorry meant to say vehicle excise duty!!

Unfortunately I have a commute of 30 miles . I can't give up my car as going by public transport would take about 2.5hrs (two buses and two trains) each way.
  • Well with people buying more vehicles with zero or low v.e.d., myself included, the shortfall has to be made up somewhere. Did anybody really think the rise wasn't going to happen anyway?
The above is NOT meant as a defence for the rise by the way!

I've said a few times, but driving is a privilege, not a right. If you want to drive, you will need to pay whatever the costs are.

People saying they can't take public transport as it takes too long, surely if its cheaper, its better?
What is pi? Where did it come from?

Where that falls apart is that some of us just don't have public transport at all
