Because I don't drive I have to wait for hubby, but when he gets inside a supermarket he goes mad and wants to buy everything. I've tried shopping on fridays, that's his day off so I say, "drop me at tesco, pick up kids and come back to pick me up, it'll save time" But he just says "oh we're not doing anything else so lets leave early and I'll come with you" :rolleyes:Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. It's not an automatic but I still could do that, the kids could do the shopping then catch the bus home. There's a bus stop right outside tesco. I'll meet them at the bus stop and help them carry the shopping. Or I could buy a wally trolly, I'm sure they won't mind taking it to school every fridayBulletproof0 -

Well, since 20th March (the start of our April challenge) we've spent £125 on food, cleaning stuff and toiletries for the two of us. Our target was £100, but we have had quite a few people round for supper so I'm quite impressed. Our previous months shopping normally came in at around the £160 mark. We're going to try for £100 this month though..............................Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

I've spent £52 so far this month so look set to be under my budget of £60 for April.
Just need to get bread, milk, fruit and veg so should be fine. The end of April is in sight!MFW 2015 #41 = £20,515/£20,515

did my last shopping trip of the month today.. :j
we get paid next friday and while the cupboards are bare there are enough meals planned for everyone.
spent £33.89 included a birthday present for a party tomorrow and I've let hubby know he's only got a fiver pocket money for next week
I agree...the end of april is in sight... :T0 -
We had set a budget of £100 every 4 weeks (as my OH gets paid 4 weekly) to feed 2 adults and 2 cats. This also includes all toiletries, toilet rolls, cleaning products (white vinegar) and washing powder (haven't got round to making my own as yet)
Have just completed my last shop until pay day next Friday. We have plenty of food left so might only need to do a fresh top up shop next week.
Previously we did a couple of "big shopping trips" and put what we fancied at the time into the trolley. I'd say we spent on average £180 a month.
This month we started off by going to the Farm shop (Haigh's Farm Shop, Mirfield, West Yorkshire)first to see what we could get. We bought a 25Kg sack of potatoes for £2.99 (saved loads making our own chips rather than oven chips), meat, fruit and veg, they also had a 6 pack of Frijj milkshakes for £1.50, 4 medium yorkshire puddings were 49p. Then we do "top up shops" weekly at Netto, Morrisons, Home Bargains, Wilkinsons and Asda. I wasn't too struck with Netto and prefer Aldi and Lidl. Tend to go to supermarkets in the evening to pick up the reduced items. Morrisons is the best place for big packs of bananas - 89p for at least 10 bananas i pick the "greenest" ones so they last longer. Was caught off guard at Morrisons when i picked up some reduced items for 5p, i didn't check the receipt until i got home and found they had charged me full price. So now i always check what price comes up when they scan it at the till.
Need to save on the shopping as i've had to spend around £400 for works on my car. Took the car to National Tyres and Autocare where you can earn Tesco clubcard points, which sweetened the pill slightly when i found out how much the work was going to cost
For the May budget i'm going to try and aim for £900
