I asked when I was in asda last night and was told I would have to buy the item to get the money off. I might try anyway next time by just handing them over at the end but as we only get a small weekly shop it might be obvious that we haven't bought some things.

Don't just sit back and accept this. It's a nationwide policy to accept coupons for items you haven't bought. My Asda stopped taking them and I was so embarrassed by the rude woman on the till that I didn't try with them again until I found this site.

I rang Asda Head Office to check what their policy was and was told that they don't accept internet coupons but do accept ones for items you haven't bought as long as they weren't retailer specific and was no more than 10% of the total bill. I was told that if I had any problems I was to go to customer service and ask them to ring head office to check their policy!

Since then I have used coupons with no problems at all there and often sneak in slightly more than 10%. I never try and take the mick though.

Thanks, will sort a few vouchers out and try at the weekend!

I agree with Moggins, they all should accept vouchers for items you havent bought, but they all have a different policy it seems on how many vouchers to accept.

I tried at Tescos(on one of my rare visits there) but the cashier told me they now only accept coupons for items you have actually bought(she did check with the supervisor too). So no point in me going there then!!

Just to update I have spent £145.90 so far of my £200.00 budget-how many days till pay-day?????

It really winds me up when they (any of the supermarkets) won't take internet coupons. As I see it, the companies offer these coupons for you to print out because they want you to use them. Where's the proplem? I HATE being humiliated at the till point

Well as I get paid tmrw, my grcoery challenge for April ended today, since the 18th March I have spent a total of £113.61, so nunder my budget of £120. I have decided this month to make my target £110 and see how we get on with that, should be quite achievable!

Well done you. I know how hard it is to stick to a budget nevermind come under it. Good luck for your next one.

Well, I was doing really well with this month's challenge and well on target with one week left to go, but I've just blown my budget right out the water :o

I've just placed two Iceland orders (take advantage before they close) and a Tesco order (to use up a voucher before it expired) all to arrive this week

I daren't add it all up yet, and I won't know the true cost till they arrive anyway, but I know I've gone way over budget especially as I had a case of wine at the start of the month too :o

Maybe my May Grocery Challenge target should be set to ZERO :D

With three orders arriving you shouldn't need much for May :D

I've no idea where I'm going to store it all yet as my cupboards and freezer are pretty full already

Think I'm going to be rather busy (or should I say the slow cooker is!) cooking up meals and freezing them too from the fresh chickens and meat :D ... and I'm going to have to give the freezer a good clear-out of bulky packages and use those first to make room for everything else

Why do I do these silly things
