Evening all, i have managed to list 2 things on ebay this week and they are ending tonight, i was hoping they would make about £20 each, one is up to £22 and the other is at £47!!!! Still got a couple of hours to go so hoping for a last minute bidding war :)

Had a loooooonnnnnggggg weekend this weekend. Had to take little one and go and stay at my mum's as my OH has gone away for a few days. I have to say, I was working earlies otherwise i would have just stayed at home, but i needed to get up and out by 5.30am and would have had to do it earlier if i had to drop off little one at mum's so thought it was easier just to stay there. Nice to have family you can rely on but also very nice to be home now x

    Hi!

Just had a read of your SOA. You have put £0 in benefits you receive. Do you not claim child benefit?

Yeah we do but it goes straight into a savings account for our little one. I'm never going to earn a lot of money, neither is my OH,so we save this for her so that when she gets older we can afford the big school trips, the scouts/guides/brownies camping trips, the deposit for her first house, or, helping her get to university...she will never know this money is here, just that when she manages to save up for things we can help her out. We never had anyone give us a step up and would love to be able to help her. So, that's why no benefits money, I don't class it as ours.

Yes makes total sense. We don't earn masses either. That's why I enjoy your diary. Our mortgage and income is similar. We are very lucky that both sets of grandparents save for our children each month so they will have a nice lump sum at 18 (or 21 if they aren't mature enough :rotfl:) I currently pay £150 into an account for after school clubs, holiday clubs and trips. I'd hate for them to miss out. We live in the smallest house in an affluent area and I'm very aware their friends parents have more money.

Yeah, it's so hard. I want my little one to understand the value of money, but I also don't want her to be the only kid going without all the time. It's hard to find a balance between wanting them to not just get given everything on a plate and also not depriving them. I feel like we are definitely the 'poor' ones in terms of money but we get lots of fun time which i figure is more important right now...a few extra quid qouldn't go amiss though x

Right, payday today for me and tomorrow for OH. We rarely have a payday together as he's paid monthly and i'm 4 weekly so i'm taking advantage and classing it as fresh start friday.

Going to spend the morning in the house with little one doing washing, cleaning, usual stuff. Also going to do a meal plan for the week and get a shopping list together. I'm going to walk to town and get some of it, but a have a 20% discount at work this weekend so might get a few bits from there too. Alternative is one shop top at Aldi but not sure I fancy driving. I could of course walk to Aldi but it's quite far for little on and with carrying shopping also, maybe not a good idea. I'll decide when i've done the list.

    Other jobs, are
    - Go to bank and draw cash for the week
    - Get monthly spends organised
    - Move money to 123 account to guarantee cashback
    - Do Onepoll

I'll add things as they come to me, but generally a bit of a 'sort it' kind of day.

    Night All

    Evening all. Well i'm pooped.

Not sure what to do. Seem to spend ages looking at the figures, always think we are going to be ok, then middle of the month comes and the CC comes out.

I need to really devote some time to looking at where the extra money is going, and i need to put the CC in the freezer!

Right, got brave and just paid the CC off with some savings.

No more CC unless it's an absolute emergency!

    Night all x

I'm in a grump today. Little one has been a total pain, not rediculously naughty, just not doing what she's told...oooh it frustrates me so much when she is like this.

Rang the mortgage company today and had a pleasant conversation with the man over the phone. I thought with the OP's we'd owe about 94000 it's actually 92500! Woo hoo! OP's are worth it! It means if we continue to OP the same amount and the interest rate stays at 3.79% then we will be mortgage free in May 2028, this is instead of May 2036.

Struggling though, having a bit of a 'sod it, lets treat ourselves to whatever we want' but then i'm worrying about the CC bill in January.

Anyone else ever just feel like they are swimming against the tide? I meet people all the time who seem to find it all so simple, but then maybe they just don't worry about tomorrow at all. I'm just having a general grump i'm afraid... :)

Well, an interesting phone call the other day may have changed our plans. I went for a job interview months ago for a job working in an office. I didn't get it and then the other day the office manager rings me and says another vacancy has come up and rather than re advertising they went back to the old interview sheets and mine was the highest scoring! So excited. It's Mon, Wed and Fri 0845-1515 awesome!
