Well Hello to all of you lovely MSEers i'm a bit under the weather, went to bed last night going hot and cold and woke up at 6.30 with a stinker of a cough and cold. Hopefully it won't last too long now. I'm looking at meal planning today. Got to go and get a bit of shopping later, but must stick to about £20 in total as we are really skint this week. Just checked the bank and there is £31 in there with my phone DD to still go eeek! so thinking if I can make as manymeals as possible with what we've already got in the house then it should help.
Leek and potato soup - already in the freezer
Curry night - curry and daal and indian snacks in the freezer, just need to buy rice (and resist naan bread)
Kids Tea - got baked beans, peas, chips, veggie fingers for me and little one and fish portion for OH already so nothing to buy there.
Off to search cupboards for what else I have and don't have to get.x x0 -
Well, vegetable and lentil stew is simmering away in the slow cooker, made with veggies and some potatoes from last weeks shop. Went to the shops with a list and only spent £17. I'm hoping, as hubby is on lates all next week that me and little one can manage with what we have in the house now. The only thing I might need to get is some bread later in the week. So
Friday - Stew
Saturday- Kids Tea
Sunday - Curry night
Monday - Leek and Potato soup with pasta
Tuesday - Veggie noodle stir fry
Wednesday - Jacket potato with cheese/beans and salad
Thursday - Whatever's left
Have a good week all and depending on time i'll be popping back on with updates x0 -
I need to do a shop like this this week to get us through to the 20th0

Hello guys, well the slow cooker stew was officially awesome! Loved it, am definitely going to make it again. Had curry night early as we were in need of spice to warm us up after a long walk, so think it's kids tea tonight then we'll be back on track. I'm so pleased we have managed to stick to the budget this week. Need to keep on track now and do this every week nit just every so often. Right, off to hunt out my budget recipes x0

Hi Mrs_E, when you say you need to do a shop like this I presume you mean 'cheap', if so then I find it easiest to stick to things I can make up and then freeze in portions. Or, check out what Aldi have in their super6 and and plan your meals around them.

Yep I meant cheap lol. Ended up doing a £60 shop at L!dl but we got plenty of fresh veg and meat, so it'll take us past payday, so I've borrowed from next month's budget and will replace instead. Not quite the idea but.....0 -
Ha, Ha, naughty naughty borrowing! Love it, I had to borrow from my 'haircuts' pot to buy food this month...oh well
I've got two things to list on ebay tonight, if they both sell then should make about £40, which is good as it would pay for next weeks food....or be £40 towards my much wanted tumble dryer.
I'm trying to sell off some bits from an old business, thinking if I can list 2-3 things a week and make £20-40 that would be great. Going to start the listings tonight to be 5 days and finish about 9pm Sunday as this seems to be a good time for mum's buying, as the products are beauty related I figure this is prime time x0 -
Enjoying your diary. Nice to read about someone in a similar sort of house and wages.
Hope you get your hours sorted. Employers are so short sighted with working mums.
