  • Gosh it's been busy in here! Hello to the newcomers.

Ppb-an easy way of dressing them up is with hearts or stars cut out of scraps and sewn on with a vibrant thread.

Fairy-i can't wait to see this purple elephant. It sounds dab!

Wow crafting, you have got a challenge! That's a lotta work in such little time!

Cakey-you sound a bit like me with not being able to craft everyday depending on how you feel.

I made some new magnets last night and another glass bowl. They're proudly on display on my Facebook page. Got my son all day on my own today which is difficult as it is when I can't walk so doubt much will get done.

Have a great weekend everyone x

The seams on the back flap aren't overly straight but I'll just keep those ones.

I don't know really.... maybe hearts? I also thought, randomly, a big blue and white anchor. I dont know why! If I make more, I need to think of something that would sell. They could also be dyed, although I don't know how much the dye would transfer onto sofas and clothes etc.

Funny i thought hearts too :)

if you are wanting to sell them you will need to check the dyes don't come off onto other things - i find if its cotton and you use the machine dyes its usually ok but i would still be careful with bright colours like reds and blues etc!

Great minds think alike :D Only thing is, I wasn't sure how to do the hearts... hem them first and then stitch them on with a contrasting thread?

I won't dye them, just in case! Cream goes with lots of colours anyway :)

Usually you don't need to hem the motif - some fabrics fray but this can be a part of the design. I would sew motifs on with an edging stitch/blanket stitch if you want to be fussy about it :D

If you are not sure i would suggest practising on some fabric scraps so you don't get lots of needle marks on the covers if you don't like it.

Oh i can't wait to see what you do :D xxxx

    Morning all,

A quick update from yesterday on my mammoth crafting challenge:-

I made 61 magnets and 38 badges today which are ready for sale (by that I mean made and packaged ready for the fair) so thats 99 things off my list!!!!

I have realised though that I actually have 14 days to get things made by rather than 9 so that makes the task slightly more do-able (she says with hope beyond hope!!!!)

825 Items in 14 days challenge

    Made 99/825 - Still to make 726

I did also manage to make 47 sets of hairclips as well but did not get round to packaging them yesterday, so this is my first job for today. These should then be able to be added to my today's total.
    Happy crafting everyone xxx

I would do just a normal running stitch. I can't sew equal stitches for the life in me so I use this one in a thread colour that stands out. Like Fairy said, fraying will add to the design. There's a lady called Helen who makes iron on hearts from Cath Kidston fabrics. They look really good and the price is very reasonable. If you search for them you'll find them. Perhaps this is an option?

Crafting you are doing well. Go go go!!

Wow crafting you are doing brilliantly :j:j:j:j:j well done :D

You are putting me to shame i have to say as i still haven't sewed the legs on the elephant :o. The one i have sewed on i decided to flatten the seam and sew it on so it would be floppy........now i'm wondering if it would be better keeping it solid........oh decisions decisions :rotfl:

On a plus side i have found my good camera - was lost for over a week  but now i can start taking better photos of my things to add to folksy :D

I've also been trying to do some work on developing a theme to my products and am thinking an Irish theme might be good :D

    Hi all,
Well I took my dolls to their first craft fayre today and didn't sell one,
did sell lots of other things though and made 3107 to pay off bills, it was a weird one cos although it was billed as a craft fayre it was more of a posh car boot, I did get 2 lovely whistles tops and some ecco shoes all for £14.00,
tips on displaying things would be welcome x
