    OR Cheat,I buy ready made when they are on bogof.
    If I am heating them up and the ovens not on I use the grill,put it on a low light and heat them up slowly.
  • i use the 443 method 4 fl oz milk 4oz plain flour and 3 eggs...
    No one said it was going to be easy!!

    That made me almost spit my soup across the desk!

    The best hints I've received are:
    • Use ALL milk for a fluffier yorkie;
    • Use ONLY plain flour;
    • a 50% water and milk gives a crispier yorkie;
    • The batter freezes well;
    • You can use the same mix to make pancakes;
    • adding 2 tbsp suet improves the recipe; and
    • you can make them in the blender by adding 'wet' stuff first, then 'dry'

    Can't wait for weekend to try these out!

  • Does anyone know if I can make Yorkshires with Self Raising flour? I want to make some for Sunday lunch and I dont have any plain but do have a huge bag of SR which needs using up. :confused:

    I'd like to know this too. There's no tradition of roast dinners in my family so I don't know how to make yorkies, but sunday roast is like a religion to my OH. I've been buying Aunt Besies for £1 which I thought was a bargain but my MIL make very snide comments about my cooking talents so I should try my own (not for her benefit you understand)

  • Just googled and found this so I will give it a go tonight and let you know!

    Ingredients:
    4 eggs
    2 cups whole milk
    2 cups self raising flour
    dash of salt & pepper
    butter (enough to grease muffin tin)

    Instructions:
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and warm a muffin tin (this is the only way to get your Yorkshire pudding to cook properly, and that was told to me by a lady from Yorkshire so I believe it!)

    In mixer bowl combine eggs, milk, flour and pepper & salt. Beat vigorously with fork for 1 1/2 minutes.

    Pour in batter into preheated muffin tin no more than half-way. Bake in 400 degree F oven for 30 minutes. Serve with a roast, baked potatoes, and your favourite veggies.

    Personally I would use half the quantities in the receipe.
    I only use 2 eggs when making 1 dozen yorkshires.
    3 eggs if I want huge ones from a muffin tin

    Just to say plain flour is always best and I have never tried with SR flour. Let me know how they turn out.

    Don't forget to get the oil really hot before you put the mixture in. :)

    Rikki, what do you mean about getting the oil hot - is this in the muffin tin? Also do you cook them in the little tins or cases or just straight in the muffin tray?

    No cases.

    Put a little oil into the muffin tin and heat up in the oven.

    When the oil is really hot take out, pour in the yorkshire mix and put back in the oven.

    Don't open the oven door for the first 15 minutes!
