Seriously, small PC shop should be able to do it. Leave the screws alone now!

You don't need to pay him to install it! You just stick the thing in yourself. It's really easy to put in - like putting batteries into a remote control, except it's impossible to put it in round the wrong way! Pay him to get the screw out and that's it. :p

    Checking watch..... 1-20pm :D

You can take rounded off screws out of anything with the right kit, and with various methods, from the simple to the more complex, however, as I value your laptop, ;), I'll keep shtoom and stick with the advise to make the effort to visit your friendly neighborhood PC guy.

Why not print off the advice related to other stuff you want to do?

He might solve all the issues you are trying to address and leave you free to enjoy?

Hey, where did you get the antenna from Steve? Was it that seller on ebay? Can't wait to find out the results on reception. speed etc.

If there is any chance you could take a pic of the card and antenna in place and post it on here you'll get my thanks :-)
I got the card and the antenna on eBay. The antenna was £9 (+£3.50 p&p) from "wireless4laptop" and the card was £26.49 (free p&p) from "oxford.bay".

I'll try and put a pic on here tonight if I get a chance.

    Steve :D:D
  • heh - just asked the local pc shop about fitting the antennae. They said they wouldn't do it. :( Saying that, they also told me to return the lappy to PC World due to the problems I've had. I did try to explain that the problems didn't exist until I added hardware, but they didn't seem interested. That said, i've never liked that bloke anyway! ;)
