Decent laptop 289.99 for first 250 cust [CLOSED]

OK, update on the mini pci card. It's meant to be for centrinos only, but I stuck it in anyway (without antennae). Guess what? It picked up my wireless network and the laptop is online and surfing as we speak! Granted, the connection isn't great right now, but with antennae attached, it should fly. Oh, I've stuck the ram back in, as I've uninstalled my D-Link PCMCIA wifi card (which was the thing I originally installed which made it crash.)

So, in summary - the mini PCI wifi card from ebuyer works on this machine.

hmm, ok, getting very picky now! I find the colour saturation on the screen a little dull. I know I can change gamma, brightness and contrast via display properties, but does anyone know of any software I can download to tweak the image in other ways...colour balancing etc?

The PB has not crashed in over 9 hours now. Hopefully, the updated drivers sorted it out. Keeping my fingers crossed, though. Oddly enough, the fan isn't coming on as much now.

Posting from the PB right now. The signal is low and the transfer rate's not great, but considering I'm running the pci card without antennae, I'm quite amazed. It varies between 11Mpbs and 1Mpbs (my wireless router only goes upto 11Mps anyway). Got a nasty bios error earlier, but took the ram out again. The laptop froze on me whilst I left it downloading later on, but that could be due to the lack of antennae?! It didn't blue screen on me then and rebooted straight away. Time will tell.

Thanks for that! I did see that on ebay. Have you thought about where your gonna put the antennae?

Not sure just yet. Will wait to see exactly how big those ends are! Looks like one end could go nicely by the metal plate done the front, on the right hand side of the lappy, or even behind the battery compartment. The other one - no idea!


It ran for 2 hours before freezing again. It's not blue screening on me now or randomly trying to reboot. I'm definitely noticing the loss of the extra ram, too. I do believe that the ram I got is a dodgy stick, though, as no-one else seems to have had the problems I've had. The old PCMCIA wifi adapter is totally gone from the system, including the drivers.

wow is the the pic of our laptop if so can nay 1 tell me where the ram slot is cos my extra ram shoul dbe coming today from pc world
