But could someone selling "new items" - if regularly , be classed as a trader ?

Yes. Your items don't even need to be "new". Inland Revenue has said that it will be taking a closer look at people selling more than 60 items a year on Ebay. Information on it can be found elsewhere on these forums. If you're working and earning money on Ebay, the tax man expects you to declare it.

You mention in your listing that the laptop was purchased unser a "PROMOTIONAL SCHEME", so I'd be inclined to let them have the receipt as soon as you receive feedback. ;) That and remind the new owner to register with PB. If they have the receipt, they have a full deck to play with should any issues arise, and no reason to drag you into it. :)

yes ive asked them to register with pb as soon as they get it .... as far as pb will be concerned they are the original owner anyway so it shouldnt be a problem .....

Quick question ladies and gents. How long should I expect the laptop to operate on a full charge? It's connected wirelessly, so I understand that should lessen the duration, however at half three today, I unplugged the laptops power supply and the battery indicator gave a running time of approx 1 hour 30 mins. After 10 mins, this was down to 1 hour 10 mins. Does this sound right?

I'm not running games or anything like that, just normal stuff like AV, Firewall and browser.

The fan seems to be on almost constantly (even when the laptop is situation on my plastic 'flat lap' thingy.

What are your thoughts? Do you think there's summat up?

Other than this, the laptops been on for a couple of days (apart from night time) and I've had no software issues, no crashes etc.

After 3 cycles he is getting approx one hour out of it playing FM 2005 (fan running continually)

    Hope this helps :)

I always believed that with any goods purchased, the buyer had a contract with the seller, not the manufacturer, thus, if the laptop fails, it goes to PC World and not Packard Bell.

Admittedly I appreciate that PC World will then deal with PB, but the purchaser surely deals with PC World not PB?

Hence the reason I suggest getting the receipt to the new owner..... Unless of course, Laptops are different somehow?

  • Crashing again. Back to the:

    windows/system32/config corrupt message again.

I did absolutely nothing. It's been running fine all day, then wham! Gone it was. Running Windows Recovery Console now. I'd love to know what's causing it. It's not the PB original windows install, as it's got a fresh XP install on there. Something is corrupting my registry and I've no clue what it is. I never once had this problem with my Dell Inspiron.

Just had a thought - wonder if the ram i got from PC World is dodgy?
