I've done a format an fresh install of XP, pumpud up the ram, installed a few essentials like ZoneAlarm and AVG, got it hooked up wirelessly and all is going very smoothley. It may be a matter of time before anything happens, but if it does, I will do my utmost to exercise my consumer ooomph to get the best of of PC World as poss
Only thing annoying me is that the fan seems to be on alnost constantly, however the laptop has mostly been on the carpeted floor and on my lap (where it should be I would have thought!). Perhaps each of those locations doesn't really give it time to cool down?!

I do now believe the problems with both the laptops I got (the original one and the replacement) was a software problem. With a fresh install, things do seem to be much better. Today will be the test, though. I'm leaving it on all day to see if it crashes again. It has yet to do so since I did a fresh install. Keep your fingers crossed for me!In a rut? Can't get out? If you havent already found it, go to the control panel, click on mouse and you'll see things you can change about the touchpad right but thats just a taster of what you can change!
Click on the 'device settings' tab then highlight the Synaptics touchpad in the list and click on settings below that. Its not just instructions as it first looks!
How cool is the touchpad now! Fully customised baby.
Love the tap zones feature! Ive adjusted the size of them and now a tap in the top left of the pad sends my browser back a page and top left takes it down. coolHardcore moneysaver0 -

I am not sure of the position, but on first thought, if the new owner is aware of the bargain price, I would consider getting the receipt into the mitts of the new owner ASAP. That way you are effectively saying..... "Here's you are, here's the receipt, aren't I the good guy, if you have any problems, taking it back will not be any issue"..... Rather than..... "If it goes T!ts up, don't come running to me"
As I say, thats my first instinct, will need to consider any implications. Point of purchase is not an issue, as they got a friend to get it as all local stores sold out.The MSE Dictionary

Personally, I think you should send them the receipt, TM. That way, if there's a problem, they can take it up with PC World. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

thanks chaps .......... i thought about enclosing the receipt to begin with ...but then decided against it as it gives the 289 price tag on there and i didnt want complaints .
ill send it to them if they have a problem ......0 -
I'd of said if you sell it as brand new and it has problems after a few days it's up to the buyer to contact packard bell with the 1yr warranty.0

Not you, the person you sell it to on ebay. I certainly don't offer a 14 day return period when I sell on ebay, it's got a warranty so let the buyer sort it!0 -
But could someone selling "new items" - if regularly , be classed as a trader ?Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
