    That's top priority.

Character schmaracter. The asking price is totally deluded. It's a cold, dank, ex cowshed with a percieved flood risk being marketed at nice, comfy 3-bed house money.

Nobody has shown any interest and I'm not surprised, check out the competition (within 3 miles) below, I reckon a reduction to sub £170k is required at the very least.

I know I am asking for peoples opinions but you are being unnecesarily rude to be honest. Fair enough the house may well be overpriced but I think it is totally out of of order and attention seaking to say such things about a home that has been looked after.

Again thanks to those for the helpful replies, price is coming up time and time again I see. Though the issue is a few thousand not tens of; I do have to point out the village overall is expensive compared to the rest of the area. The house is a hard one to value - it is unique and the agent may well have got carried away with the location and character. The fact that it is right in the centre of village but away from the main road has not been highlighted by the agents I noted.
  • Jeez, get a grip. Shall I appologise to the house for being so rude about it?

I summarised what I thought when I looked at the Rightmove ad. All fair points and backed it up with examples of why I think that way.

I hate to break it to you but seems to be what potential buyers in the area are thinking too. Take it or leave it but better than sitting here saying "ooh what a lovely house, I'd buy it" when I clearly have no intention of doing so.

Lowering the price by 5 grand isn't likely to make any difference.

It is not an ex cow shed simple as, anything else is your opinion I just believe you could have worded in a less offensive manor. Anyway this thread is not here for me to argue with you so best if we just agree that you will never buy the house and move on.

I know the area, not well, but I know it.
If it's the place I think it is (opposite the old Auto Services) then I, too, think the problem is the price for the size. It sits in a fairly sizeable plot but the building itself seems quite small.

If your parents put it on the market at the current asking price willing (or expecting) to sell at around 200,000 then, maybe, asking for offers over 19?,000 may be better.

There's not a great deal of work in the immediate area which would probably mean a commute to Taunton or Minehead. Prospective buyers will be taking car running costs into account &, with cheaper alternatives in the main towns, your parents property needs to have something to pull them in.

Lovely little house but I think it would be better to lower the price and get more people viewing and if 2 or more are interested that could bump it back up a bit. Also think a mirror or maybe a picture over the mantlepiece would look good.

I have to admit I found this sentence pretty amusing...

It was blunt and untactful feedback, and exaggerated for impact perhaps, but it was considered in its own way.
  • It looks like a very expensive holiday let.
