3dogs, I have just thought of something.

A friend of mine had a very nasty open abscess and she cured it wonderfully with colloidal silver from the health shop over the counter. It is amazing stuff. It comes in a spray bottle and can be applied directly very easily. May be worth googling??

Thought I'd mention it in case it helps Alan to feel a little more comfy?

Evening all - sorry I didn't report in earlier but been texting and talking on the phone since we got back

The Registrar examined Mr 3Dogs, ran through his health history and recent events, together with present position, then talked about chemo to try to slow the cancer down. It would be tablets, given on a 3 week cycle, 2 weeks tablets with one week rest, then start again. However he felt that, with Alan feeling so weak, he was borderline for treatment as he needed to be strong to take the side effects. He went to talk it over with the Oncologist who came in to talk to us too. The Oncologist said that Alan was too weak to take the treatment and also, with the treatment lowering the ammune system and Alan having an open wound to the abcess, the danger was too great that he might get an infection which would lead to him being admitted to hospital. So he said that treatment was not an option as things were, and rather than getting stronger, Alan may start to get weaker straight away

He asked if we fully understood the cancer Alan had, i.e. bowel cancer spread to liver and as such incurable,, which we did. He also asked what prognosis we'd been given, and when we said consultant had given a sort of generalisation of 6 months to 2 years, he said that the cancer was very advanced and it would be a matter of months rather than years, which was a bit of a shock. Anyway, they are referring him to Macmillan Community Nursing Team and to another Doctor but we can't remember what that was for so will have to wait and see what that was about

So it was not the best of news :( but, as a friend of ours always says, it is what it is. We still intend to make the most of the time Alan has left with a holiday in Devon with our 3 dear MSE friends in July to look forward to, and a trip up North to visit family before then, so we will remain strong and positive
