well yesterday was a nice day. mr dogrose, after our fight over a stir fry (dont ask), took me out for day. had a wander round the shops, he bought me some of my favourite perfume (I was cringing because I knew I could have got it cheaper online ;)), then he treated me to lunch. had to laugh though - just made it in time to watch the fulham - man utd game on the big screen at the pub :) his dedication to watching football was part of the arguement :)

anyway today will be more OS. roast pork for dinner. might take Ms dogrose shopping for a jacket. the one she wears to school has a broken zip and its pretty worn out anyway. she might be getting a paper round so will need something cosy. the old jacket was more of a fashion statement than a practical one anyway. however I can see tears ahead as she will want something totally unsuitable.

what a lovely birthday surprise party dlb!!

  • Morning all!

Off to Barnstaple this morning for the dreaded school shoe run. Everyone pray that the latest growth spurt hasn't affected my boys feet.:rotfl: I'm meeting my sister with her two littl'uns to help with a pin-down operation at the shoe-shop....they are master tantrumers. Joy! Hopefully my kids can distract them whilst their feet are being measured.

Seven of us for lunch today; lovely roast chicken which I'll pad out with lots of veggies and bread sauce. Have written comprehensive time plan for my husband.:)

Hope everyone has a great day. Hugs to those with family/money worries.
    Katie.

    Good Morning All

Didnt sleep too well last night and then I was wide awake just after 6am.

Lots to do today, but not motivated enough to get them done!

Got to tackle the shopping, then to OH's parents to help move their settee (what we're having) into their garage, ready for us to collect tomorrow with the van. Was hoping for extra help from his dad, but he has to work! So, looks like myself & OH will be busy, just hope my back will hold the strain!
As we've got to move our old one from here, take to OH's parents to store in their garage,(untill the buyer collects it) and bring the other one back! Nightmare!

Still no sign or contact from the lady who was collecting the other large item I sold on ebay! Im getting very annoyed now. I will give her till 5pm then report a non-paying-bidder claim against her!

smokeybabe sounds like a nightmare, but at least you are aware of the situation and will avoid it esculating! Penny Pincher has given the sound advise so far! I would try and see what and how DFW board can help first, and try avoiding taking out another loan (thats my opinion) but if its a road you must go down, then good luck. Been there, done it, its not a nice situation to be in! ((((hugs)))) to you & OH.

grannybroon hope DGS are feeling better today!

Right Id best be off, and get showered & tackle Mr T's for the shop! Just not in a very good mood at all today!

    Take care
    Love Emma xxx

2/Need to wash my dishes from last night
3/Need to pop to tesco/sainsburys/asda for some salad bits! (trying to lose the excess 1 1/2 stone ive put in the last 6-12 months!)

Hi Yall, just a quick scan and post before I bobby off to church, I will read through proper-like later.

I've a joint of brisket soaking in a bath of red wine and oxtail soup (tastes better than it sounds) and I shall slam it in the oven as I leave. Mum & Dad are coming for lunch and I've got a steamed syrup sponge charged ready to go and a Lemon Merringue Pie which I made last night in the fridge.

We are on opperation liquidate assets at Chez MATH! Most of my ebay stuff is ending today and cranking up nicely:j I've also talked Mrs MATH into parting with some of her jewelery she doesn't like/wear. I got some appraised yesterday and will take another batch down tomorrow. Dohble bubble IMO as we will realise some hard cash and save money not having to insure the stuff seperately. Now I've got the bug I've warned Mrs MATH that she may come home to find nothing but a tumble weed rolling through the house LOL

The worst kept secret in the village is that I am to be presented with a recognition award at church this morning for the work I have done as a steward, service sheet and notice editor (I've retired now - and no I'm not 65:p ). I really don't want to go now as I don't like the fuss and feel guilty accepting it. I think you should do these things as an act of service and love and I keep being reminded of the passage in the Bible where it says the things done in private are worth more than those recognised by men. I hope I don't sound ungreatful:o

I'd better scoot, I've got to load up the airer before I take off

Have a good Sunday (first in Lent for those who are counting....LOL)

    Good morning All!!!

DD finally dragged me up at 8, I curled up on the sofa for another hour though and DD got me a "blankie" and DS a cushion, then they popped over every 5 minutes whilst having their brekkie to give me kisses, they are so lovely.

Need to make a chicken curry today to freeze so did the chicken in the SC last night, it smells wonderful and I will be sorely tempted to "test" it but I musn't!!

Need to make some soups too and a pasta bake. DD has her ballet exam at 12 so have had to wash her entire uniform this morning. Also need to sew the elastic on her ballet shoe as it has come off again. I hate doing this. I forgot to get her a hairnet yesterday, any OS suggestions for something I could use? I was thinking of cutting up some old flesh coloured tights, she will have a bun round on top and is very blonde so shouldn't show.

Also need to drag DH out to get DD some new school tights and skirts / pinafores. She wants skirts and I want pinafores because they are sooooo cute, maybe one of each.

We will have a carpet picnic tonight too as sis in law and nephew are coming at 4 for tea, crikey better do some cakes that too.

DLB - it's funny when I read your post last night with your plans for the evening I thought to myself "I bet her DH has planned a surprise party at the restaurant" so my psychic powers weren't far off!!!

    Smokeybabe
    - do try the DFW board, by all accounts it's excellent.

    Rchapp - Happy Birthday!!!!! :bdaycake:

Hugs to all others in need, enjoy your Sunday!!!

    Morning Everyone

Had a very depressed weekend so far. Very down on myself at the moment. And lonely, which is where I think it's stemming from

Going to experiment for dinner, by cooking chicken pieces in a tin of mushroom soup, with some real mushrooms and serve rice and leek.

    Hope everyone's ok

    Morning

Having the usual lazy Sunday start - pint of tea and a bowl of crunchy nut:laugh:

Im not having to set off on any great treks for work today so its going to be really nice just mooching in the house. Lots to do though as tommorrow I have my very pregnant friend coming over with her 2year old and 1year old and we are going to attempt and I mean attempt to take them to the local kid friendly pub - mmmm fingers crossed eh:eek:  then GBF is coming over for dinner and a sleepover :D I speak to him most days but havent actually seen him for months. In that time he has announced his "wedding" date as new years eve which I know is just going to be so much fun.

I am going to do a Chicken tikka and some aloo saag (thanks again Lucie Ive load of success with your recipe) with a big naan and some dips. Think that should do the trick.

For today I have pulled a mystery dish out of the freezer for a surprise dinner later (hope its a nice surprise:D ) Note to self get better at labelling:rotfl:

Right tea finished so best get on

Happy Birthday Rachddap hope its a good one (they are always nicer at the weekends I reckon :T

Queenie - If you struggle with help from your friend then let me know - for a tiramisu I would make any number of shields required:D

Math - Well done on the award - Im sure you never started off your help with the intent of getting the award so I reckon its OK. Maybe you can ebay it though tonight as part of your house clearning venture:rotfl:

Johanne - Good to see you back - you sound well sorted and how exciting having a new independant life in your own house:T

Scuzz - (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) bet that dinner will be gorgeous

    Hello all :hello:

(((hugs))) to scuzz, smokybabe and anyone else who needs one today! And welcome back johanne - things seem to be on the up for you :) Also congratulations to MATH on your award :D

Not much planned here today, have a few bits for uni to do: some prep for my seminar on Tuesday, a little bit of work to do on my electronic journal ( I have no idea so don't ask :rotfl: ) and some more reading in time for my meeting with my tutor later this week. Have already sorted one load of washing (it's on the airer now) and will do some ironing, and some general cleaning later on. At the minute I have all my windows open and am letting some lovely fresh air drift through the flat.

Today is 3 years since I lost my grandad and it is my granny's 80th birthday tomorrow. She is going for a meal with my parents and youngest sister to celebrate, and then tomorrow when I finish uni at 10 I am going to drive over and bring her to Sheffield... She hasn't been here before and so I'm going to show her my flat and the sights of Sheffield... If anyone can think of any please let me know :rotfl:

This time of year is a bit rubbish for me and I get quite depressed so I may not be around much in the next few weeks. In a week or so, it is the 3rd anniversary of my best friend's death. He had cancer the whole time I knew him, but was only 20 and so full of life that we never really thought he would die - even though we knew it was terminal - so when I got the news on my first day back at college after my grandads funeral I was distraught, and as a result didn't do as well as I should have done in my A-Levels...

    Anyway, enough from me,

    Have a superb sunday :)
