Daily Thread 25th Feb 07

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (25th feb). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Sorry guys just couldnt wait until the morning to tell you!!!
I had a lovely evening out for my birthday, dh had taken a cake to place we were eating at, and it was a great surprise!!But,,,,,,,
when i got home thought it was strange when i tried to open door and couldnt as it was already unlocked????
Dh had sorted a surprise party for me, house all decorated loads of food and drink and friends here.
I havent stopped smiling all night, had way to much to drink but im so happy, it has made my day if not my year.:D

Sorry if im going on drink is kicking in big time but hey im only 30 once, i will fill you all in in the morning about the events tonight lol, some very funny things have happened but signing off now.
Hugs to all
Donna

Nice one dlb, it's great that you had a good time.
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday :bdaycake:
I'm just about finished scrubbing the kitchen to within an inch of it's life, got one of those "get it done" moods on me today, I mean yesterday
I'll finish it then I'm off to bed. Sleep well night owls and good morning early birds.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
Proud to be a chic shopper

Happy Birthday Dlb _party_ :bdaycake: _party_
Bad back has got me up again so I'm going to catch up on here:D
Wireless connection was down all day yesterday so no MSE for me. Had the usual Saturday with me cleaning this morning then working for a couple of hours to come to the house looking like a student squat and the girls pumped full of sugary snacks  I don't know how he does it so fast
I'm trying to be productive now and WM, BM and Yogi maker are on. OH has promised me a lie in tommorrow but I need to drop stuff off for the PTA car boot sale at 9am. Then have promised the girls we'd do some baking for their snacks for school as I'm fed up paying over the odds for cereal type bars:rolleyes:
Off to catch up on yesterday's thread. Hope I haven't missed anything major.
Take care all and Happy Sunday

Good morning everyone!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: , I hope you had a brill time.!!!!!:D
Racy - get to bed!!;) :rotfl:
Blairweech, ...........................
for you. I have been through the mill with relationship problems. If you want a natter please feel free to PM me.
Gingham, James is beautiful. You must be so proud!:T :T :T :T :T
Well I posted twice that I was feeling ill before I was sent home on Thurs am as being unfit for work. I have spent the time between the bed and settee as I have never felt so bad (Soooooooooooooooo glad recovery from this has been fairly quick!)
I am so glad that so many of you missed me.

So why do I post? - simple, I have no one else to talk to - really.
Last night has been crunch time for me and OH over our finances. We owe between us -
Me £126.00 OD
Him £2400.00 OD
Me £3500.00 LOAN
TOTAL......................£.6026.OO.
I have never been in control of the money until he was ill, don't get me wrong I have kept the books for the last 2 years and fought with him over the spending frequently as I have seen that we are going TITS up - but finally he has seen the picture.
I have argued over want versus need till I am blue in the teeth. It has taken his stay in Hosi for me to be able to take control and slash the bill from £130/160 pw for shopping to £60 pw.
I am now faced with taking out a loan to pay this lot off. It seems the easiest awnser currently - but................
If OH gets ill again?????
I already pay every single bill out of my account (due to OH's illness) he meets nothing, he does tackle the childcare bills when he can but as the WTC keep reckoning we owe them money we are and have been down the pan for the last 2 years. The last count we owe them £2k.
PS, to everyone who needs today...................

Hello!! :j
happy birthday dlb! :bdaycake:
Oh I had a great day at Windsor. Went there on a business matter but had a couple of hour spare so I looked at the shops etc - didn't buy anything though! I stayed in the area near the castle and the royal standard was flying, so the Queen was just a few hundred yards from me!
On the way back I went to Morrisons and got some organic vegs, some were reduced :j.
Then back home to do the report on today's survey and of course when I'm online MSE is on one of the pages, so....
A days rest today at last! Will be reading a bit, go for a walk and generally chill out.
Have a great day everyone! :jBe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Morning everyone

Belated Happy Birthday DLB...sounds like a fantastic party
I love sundays! Lazy day planned not planning on leaving the house other than letting the kids run some energy off at the park which is just down the road.
Been up since 5.30am thanks to dd but have been going to bed early atm so don't feel too bad. I am doing a roast chicken for lunch which is always nice as we are not able to sit down as a family to eat during the week
. Ds has loads of homework to do (too much imo) so that will take up most of the morning for him with OH to help. House will receive a spruce and then it's ironing and a gin and tonic later while I watch deal or no deal and the kids have a picnic tea (i.e blanket out on living room floor).....bliss
. My lovely mum came over the other day with a huge tray of beautiful fairy cakes for the kids so I don't even have to do any baking
.
Have a lovely day...hugs if needed (esp smokybabe)0 -
Morning all!
I haven't posted on the daily for ages. The main reason is because I don’t have much to say as my life is incredibly uneventful and I don’t want to bore you all to death. But I do love reading about what's going on with everyone else so today I thought I'd pop in and say hello.
Today will be the usual Sunday routine;
I'll make some sort of cooked breakfast then go to see Dad and Stepmum. It’s Dh's birthday on Monday and we were meant to be going away for the weekend (without kids) but since I’ve been sick this week that’s been postponed for a fortnight. Because I haven't been out for a few days I have some mad dashing to do today to get him bits and pieces for tomorrow.
Donna, I'm glad you had a great birthday and belated birthday wishes to anyone else who’s birthday I’ve missed.
Smokeybabe, life sounds scary for you at the moment, hopefully it’ll get better soon.
Off to make more coffee and work out what the heck to do with a lamb shoulder that seemed like a good idea yesterday.
Hoping you all have a good day.

Morning Guys!
Didnt sleep tp well last night, but never mind!
Happy Birthday DLB-We know its been a hard few weeks for you, but you can now look forward to the future and look how adoring your OH is:D ....getting a party together takes alot and he has done very well. I bet it was lovely catching up with friends and to just generally letting your hair down. Hugs!
Smokeybabe-I would suggest going over to the DFW and posting a SOA, then you will be able to see where every last penny goes. TBH, I dont know if taking out more debt to pay for debt is worth it, but I dont know your full circumstances, but if you want to PM me, I could maybe help on a couple of pointers. How is your credit rating? Could you apply for a CC with 0% and BT it over
Anyway....hugs and keep your chin up;)
Massive joint of lamb is out and will start slowly roasting it in the next couple of hours. WM is empty and there is not enough for a load:eek:    ...so that wont be going on today:D DW will be put on later and toilet has been cleaned. Need to do some more ironing, even just a few bits will be good. Will get all the veg prepared by OH, so its all done as wont be having dinner till about 5'ish.
OH has his first essay to write today and has already done rough notes...smart !!!!!:p I have a timed essay to do in the next 10 days and currently reading the material for it. Its all about the "golden age" within the benefit system and is making quite intersting reading.
DD still not too well but she has already had 4 days off school last week, so she really cant afford anymore time off. Will keep her in today and keep on with the paracetomol. She is eating well now though, so shes not fading away:D
Anyway, Id better go as I need a brew. Will be making in my teapot and using me new tea cosy to keep it warm....how sad am I....MATH....dont answer that or face death:rotfl:
Hugs to all.

:hello: Gooooooood Morning, fellow OS'ers :hello:
:bdaycake: Many Happy Returns, Donna! Aww, how wonderful to get home to such a well thought out planned surprise party
( :shhh: Hope you aren't hung over this morning :silenced: )
Ooh Racy, you'll be up to a lovely sparkly kitchen and no signs of a potential hangover to blur the vision either! Hope you slept well
Haribo - ouchie! Backs can be extremely painful
Hope it heals soon and you get the lay in bed DH has promised you
smokey - have you posted in the Debt Free Wannabe board about those debts? They are an equally supportive bunch who will be able to advise you on the best way to tackle those outstanding ones ((hugs)) Almost all financial advice I have ever read suggests you have a back up savings of 3 months wages for when times like this hit. I know it's of no help right now, but it's certainly something you need to aim towards. Positive vibes being sent your way!
Quasar - what a wonderful day you had!! Hope you took your camera
gingin - your Sunday sounds lovely - especially the picnic tea! Enjoy
pink - hope you managed to get everything you want organised for DH's birthday tomorrow. Shame about your weekend, but at least you still have something to look forward to.
Off out shortly, my friend came out of hospital yesterday and there have been some drama's going on on the homefront while she was away that needed some serious sorting out! So, today, I'm hoping it will be a less dramatic visit - besides, I'm also hoping her husband will give me a hand with d11yo's shield
 Making a tiramisu to take along with me as bribery
Need to have a whip round before I go though - it doesn't take long for things to accumilate; also must make up a couple of batches of yogurt today, we're getting through sooooo much lately.
Still have a chesty cough that doesn't seem to want to shift, but I think I'm finally catching up on sleep and getting a bit of my energy levels back.
Have a super moneysaving kind of Sunday

morning PP - hope dd is able to catch up on the work she's missed and is better by tomorrow!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Everyone,
First of all bug hugs to Smokeybabe, and to everyone else that's in need. Belated birthday greetings to dlb.
I got back yesterday from a fab week in Berwickshire - cottage was great, warm and cosy, had some wonderful walks along various beaches, weather was mild for the time of year, and greatly enjoyed the company of my friends and sharing cooking duties and clearing up etc.. I love the companionship of shared meals, and divvying out the duties meant everyone got a break from cooking, and the pleasure of someone else's recipes. Went out for two meals, which was a treat too. So a mix of OS and treats - most enjoyable! My souvenirs are seaglass and a few shells from the seashore, to conjure up happy memories of the peace, oystercatchers and cormorants, happy beachcombing and the sound and sight of the sea.
Today is laundry day, shopping for veg - still living mainly out of storecupboard and freezer for this coming month. Back to w**k tomorrow, feel well rested and ready for it.
Have a good day

Good morning everyone.
dlb, glad you had a great birthday party. You must feel so loved.
smokybabe, Hugs to you.
Well today will be the usual washing, drying putting away/ironing. The washing never ends in this house. Dd is going back to uni this afternoon. The week-end seems to have gone so quickly, but at least we have seen her.I did the "sunday roast" yesterday so she gets at least one decent meal.
I drove the car yesterday for the first time since it came back from the gargage.I wont relax for some time and i was constantly checking the temperature. It was great though to drive the children to swimming , instead of catching two buses each way.I also went to tesco`s and spent £50 on not alot. Every time i go there (which isnt often nowadays) i always seem to spend alot.Anyway, I hope everyone has a relaxing sunday,Take care, Love Elaine.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.
