Been after thick curtains to keep the cold out and found some good as new Montgomery ones for £9.95 (RRP £117 in the sale). Chuffed. :T

  • Please spare a thought for a charity shop gingham shirt of mine which passed on to the great clothesrail in the sky. Bought in 2000 for £3, I wore it every summer until this one. An operation to turn the collar failed and it passed away on the sewing table. Its body has now been donated to my wife to cut up for making gingham lids for home made jam jars!

My charity shop checked shirt bought around the same time was stolen by my daughter!

She also has a Tshirt of mine bought in 1981 and that gets borrowed by all her friends too.

That was from Pinapple though not the charity shop!

My DH had some curtains made up from Montgomery fabric over 25 years ago, and they are still going strong! Hope yours last as long!
  • Been back to the charity shops and came home empty handed

I hate when they put things in colours so it's just a jumble of dresses and coats and pants and what ever all by green or blue or red
What's wrong with size order! And by item type! Sheesh!

Will probably try again this weekend in a different town. Got to keep revisiting although none of my bargains are as good as some of those listed here!!

Are car boots any good? I dont know if we have any decent sized ones round here though.

I love charity shopping because like mentioned above your wardrobe is unique. I feel less guilty if I get bored with an item because I just resonate it. Less money 'wasted' for me than if that were a brand new item

  • Jumble sale report... It was by the 'strut' charity in Lincoln for disabled children. When they have too much stock, or out of season stock, they do a jumble sale, with every item 20p. This time I spent a grand total of £4.00, and amongst other things found.....

    Casual Primark top for mum
    Gorgeous woolly scarf
    Pink coat for niece
    Pink hoody for niece
    Primark maxi dress for me!
    Silver shoes for a niece
    Hoody for me
    Monsoon top for me
Monsoon skirt for me to eBay:o
    Monsoon dress for sister
    Next jacket
    Sunning white 'evening' coat
    Topshop skirt
Several jersey style dress for friends kids

    That's all I can remember...

I love jumble sales, such good fun, and a bin liner full of stuff for £4!!!! :T

I found a lovely coat this morning in the Red Cross shop, Marilyn Anselm for Hobbs, in great nick except the buttons were hanging off, not a problem obviously - except I then looked at the price tag, £30!!!! Needless to say it got put back sharpish.

£30 was a bargain. £200-£250 new and sell used on eBay for a fair whack.
