On today's charity shop tour I spotted some really gorgeous things but came home, for various reasons, with nothing:(.

First of all, in the Mind shop, I saw a lovely Monsoon dress & matching jacket in a burgundy & dark orange flower pattern in a heavy silk fabric. Looked like a 'worn once to a wedding' sort of jobbie. Each was priced separately but the outfit together came to about £18. Would have been a great Chrimbo outfit but was a size too big and 2" too short:(. Then in Oxfam I spotted a pair of brown b/n Crocs short welliebobs priced at £7.99. Tried 'em on and they fitted but I have a pair of tall navy Hunter welliebobs and even with heavy insoles and several pairs of socks find them very chilly in snow. Thought the Crocs would be similar so I left them. Then in BHF I saw a super duper pale grey slub silk dress, very Audrey Hepburn with a tight bodice and sticky out half circle skirt. The thing that impressed me most was how well made it was, (Jacques Vert)....very intricate seaming and piping round the armholes and neck and a deep rose coloured satin lining. Also looked like a 'worn once' jobbie. That was £6.99 but was 2 sizes too big :(.

So today I can, at least, console myself by saying that I have saved myself £33 :rotfl:

I'm still on my search for black tops and found a Gap long sleeved loose fitting top in what feels like silk but isn't.
It has discreet black sequins from high at the sleeve to the neckline, front & back (if this makes sense).
Long back zip which has been put in very nicely.
It has soft shoulder pads which I'm not sure about but they are only loosely sewn in if I decide I want to remove them.
    BNWT £39.50.
    £3.99 Barbados.

Lovely but a very long way to go!
Ha, I can't talk, my fat fingers are always getting me in bother:rotfl:

:( Oooh, Miro, what lovely things and such a shame they weren't quite right. Your dream outfit will come, I am sure of it, keep hunting.

I rather like Jacques Vert's quality and have a lovely tailored jacket, sort-of deep burned orange (but tasteful, nothing like orange-orange) which garners compliments whenever it's seen. Chazzer buy ages ago but a classic cut, only £3.60, which is half te price of a fish supper.

Gala occasion clothes like those formal outfits can be great buys if you have to go to fancy dos and your 'posh frock' has been seen and photographed a few too many times already.

I love wearing secondhand clothes and am often top to tail in preloved goodies. Relishing my puffa jacket (£6.50 early this year) and my gloves (thinsulate lining, Everything 50p Chazzer).

Only ducked into a couple of chazzers as I passed today - damn you, you job, for keeping me off the streets - and just bought one thing; omnibus edition of Du Maurier's Cornish novels. 50p for 4 books, that's 12.5p each.:rotfl:

GreyQueen - my inside leg is 34" too. I will buy 36" leg in jeans though so I can cuff them and still have them ankle length.
Where do you find 36” legs? Most seem to stop at 34”.

:) I managed to make it down to the Everything 50p chazzer before it closed yesterday and came away with a new outfit for £1 - pair New Look office-appropriate trews and an Agenda tunic-style blouse in a fine cotton, salmon pink.
Well you have made my chazzer outfit today (Gap jeans for £2, plus Next chunky knit in silver for £1) look like an extravagance!

On the other hand, I have spent rather a lot of money lately. I received the keys to my new home today :j:j:j

Well, I think I've missed telling a few bargains.
A fab Per Una denim jacket, not a jean jacket but more a 'proper' jacket with 3 fab buttons.
    £1.00 Air Ambulance.
A Travelo Pure perfume spray. Google it, it's fab for holidays or even in small handbags. This one is used but I can Google how to clean.
    £2.00 retail at about £12.00
  • Duchess bone china Poinsetta cake plate. $6.99. I owned this for years until one Christmas it leapt out of the fridge fully laden with sausage rolls and hit the floor. Missed it and finally found it's identical twin.

Number two son is benefitting again. Christmas tartan table cloth and two brand new Christmas drying up towels. He's doing the Christmas Eve meal this year and can use anything and everything.

And final find? A kit for cross stich embroidery of a Christmas Stocking. $4.99. They run around $20 if you can find them. So daughter in law will have a stocking for next Christmas. Over the years, I've done them for both my boys when they were babies and a needlepoint one for the hubbie.

    Overall a good few trips.

Miro - the Jacques Vert dress sounds lovely, what a shame.

GreyQueen - I love Daphne Du Maurier, my favourite is House on the Strand.

VfM - I don't often find a 36" leg, Next tall range are somewhere in that region and LTS too, it's a bit long for me but ideal if I want to turn them up but still have them ankle length.

I had a nice find yesterday, I got a BNWT Gap Merino Wool jumper for DH, it has navy slightly marled sleeves with a denim blue body, the neck and cuffs are a mix of both colours, £3.50, it is being wrapped up for Christmas for him.

I've had this for many years.
And I still love to curl up with Rebecca on a cold, wet day.
