Dashed into Oxfam yesterday just to avoid a heavy shower of rain. It's not one of my usual chazzas as I think their stuff is overpriced and the clothes are usually rubbish. Anyhoo, there on the rail was a pair of very swanky Ted Baker black leggings with panels of black flowery jacquard down the front of the legs. They looked as new and the fabrics seemed top quality and the item looked very well made. They were priced at £7 which is more than I would usually pay for something like that so I tried 'em on to make sure they would be OK. Super fit and will look great with a pair of black suede boots that I already have. Had to do a quick Google to see how much they would have cost originally......£125  I seem to be doing well at finding Ted Baker stuff at the mo :)

Had to wait in this afty for a parcel that never came  so I used the time to sort out a wardrobe and some drawers...now have a nice big bag of stuff to donate and a bit more room.

Bogof Babe - if you tap cut glass it will 'ring' whereas moulded or pressed glass won't! I just ping it with my finger to check. I've a very nice collection of cut glass and lead crystal that I've amassed over the years. It does look lovely to set a 'high tea' and glass goes with everything so there's no need to match. It's not very fashionable now so good pieces can be found for very little Dosh.

It was wrapped in bubblewrap and a big padded envelope ready to be taken to my flat, which I am doing today. I unwrapped it and gave it the ping test, and the sides give a nice clear ping, but the bottom has no ping at all. I wonder if it's the fact that the sides are "cut" while the bottom is flat that makes it like that.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

The bottom is probably made of thicker glass for safety reasons and to make it fit for purpose. Its no good setting something down on a surface if it is damaged in the act of doing so.

Effectively "hiring" clothes for as long as you want them in this way is a very cost-effective way of changing your wardrobe. It doesn't matter that you don't hold onto stuff once its value to you has gone.

I bought a little recipe book 'Meal in a Mug' which shows you how to make quick one-cup snacks (muffins, scrambled eggs, soups etc.) in the microwave.

I'd been looking for a book like this but didn't want to pay £9.99.

The charity shop copy - brand new - was £1.50

Not a Charity Shop buy but a pair of cotton trousers (DHs size) from M&S end of sale rail: £1.49.
If he doesn't like them (don't see why) he can just wear them round the house at that price.
    Normal people worry me.

Woohoo :j :j :j Today's find is a pair of straight leg Levi 505s, perfect fit and as new condition, for the bargain price of... £2 :j . It was on a sale rail "everything £2" in a Jospice shop in Ormskirk.

Ormskirk is brilliant, there must be about 15 charity shops. We should have a get-together there sometime! :T

For anybody on the South Coast, Bexhill is the capital of charity shops. I've never seen so many in one town. On a visit to one of them one of the volunteers told me that that groups actually organise Minibus outings for people to do a trawl of the charity shops.
