  • Scope for books have been better since they brought in flat rate charging, I remember they used to pencil in a price on the first page, which varied from book to book. Now, at my local one at least, it's £1 for a paperback, and £2 for a hardback.

British Heart Foundation are just extortionate with their pricing, both donated goods and brand new goods. I saw a woman picking up a brand new ornament from the new goods area, and completely blanch when she was told it was around £80?

I bought a couple of CDs for 30p each off Oxfam's sale table. I liked one of them so much when I got it home and played it, that I have now bought another of their albums from iTunes!

The band is called Vision Thing, and I had never heard of them before but I liked the look of the album cover (and the price!) so I'm glad I've discovered them  .

Fabulous CS visit for me today, including donating a big bag of our own unwanted stuff too. Picked up a paperback and a thesaurus for 50p each, shorts and linen trousers from the £1 rail and a smart pencil skirt for £1.50. The linen trousers are M&S and like new, plus they are a long length which I need, but rarely comes up in CS. Absolutely thrilled!

Yesterday I found a pair of Berghaus walking trousers in very good condition, still with the spare button attached to the label, priced £1.99. When I took them to the counter the lady said "trousers are buy one get one free", so I could choose another pair or a skirt. It's tricky when there's nothing you really want, but I have been looking out for some cut-offs that are long enough to cover a mark on my calf, so I settled on a pair of beige cotton M&S ones. Even if I never wear them I will probably donate them back in a year or so.

Today in Cancer Research there was a "all clothing £1" day, and I got a pair of M&S dark blue jeans and... a Barbour quilted jacket! The jeans are like new, the jacket is a bit grubby around the collar but for a quid I thought I'd have a go at cleaning it up :D .

A lovely pair of black M&S trousers with white leaf pattern, in very good condition from Oxfam for £4. I washed and dried them last night and wore them today- so comfortable and really soft. They're a little long but I hiked the waistband up and that worked just fine :D they look lovely- I am pleased with them. Not often you find anything in plus sizes but these are a good sized 22.

A pair of M&S 100% linen trousers (Love Linen range) in khaki with a fine beige stripe.

These are wide legged, are pull-on and have a ribbed elasticated back so are very comfy to wear.
I have several pairs in different colours..

£2.00 from our hospice shop and still have the circular inspection sticker on the care label.

Just need taking up now.

What does that mean? They haven't been worn?

I'm a fan of khaki, so they sound really nice. :)

Bogof Babe - try cleaning the collar of your Barbour jacket with wet wipes. It's a tip given me by a CS staff member & often works very well. I use them to clean the collar on a silk jacket so I don't have to have it cleaned! They also work well on the odd spot mark too.

Going to my friends wedding today in the dress I bought from Sue Ryder and shoes from a cancer trust - I shall look smart for under a tenner!!!

I needed some black and grey check pattern cotton for a craft project, and was thrilled to find a large pair of culottes in exactly the right fabric in a local CS for 50p in their rummage bin.
