What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

I was in an area that I don't usually visit and got a large white Irish linen table cloth for £2. The lady at the till commented that it was probably from a hotel as that was the type of cloth that they used to use. The type that you use at Christmas and Easter or when you have lots of people to dinner! It will see me through at least 25 years! That sort of table cloth would be £25 where I live! Bargain.0

Today I got a Pampered Chef microplane grater for £1.49. It didn't have a price, but munchkin and me pop in regularly and I think I got mates rates lol. Also a brand new looking Mini Boden dress for munchkin for £2.49. Not a bad trip!0

A soft leather GiGi handbag for £2.000

A Harrods tie for 25p. It has a few dot sized light stains on but nothing major. From a newly discovered local charity craft shop (the first time I went I got some gorgeous vintage belt buckles for 25p). Also got some wool, a book of postcards, ribbon and a Disney tin from there. All 50p or less.
Some little Marvel figures for 10p each from another local charity.
Then in Red Cross, got jumped on almost instantly by the shop person who just had to show me this dress. Topshop NWT, £5. Didn't fit, if it had I might have bought it as a treat because it was very nice. She ended up saying she was going to keep it for her daughter.
But she'd been a bit hard sell with it and I felt a bit like I had to buy something else then. I ended up with a Punkyfish party dress and a handmaid mermaid costume, both £3.50 each. At least I have Halloween sorted. Next time I'm going to just walk out if I see her there because she made me uncomfortable.Best 2016 Wins - Nails Inc Bundle, Sebo Vacuum, Walking Dead Figure Subscription0 -

I can never resist a tombola, so had a go the other day, and won a silver Avon watch!
Cancer Research in my place have a collection of wrapped items in a plastic crate - £1 Lucky Dip, a prize every time.
Our Barnardo's has been deemed a 'failing store'.
After a couple of poor managers, it was decided that it was failing so they're a £1.99 store now.
It doesn't matter what it is, where it came from or what the quality, everything is £1.99.
I heard the lady behind the counter explain this to a woman who had brought in some beautiful leather coats.
When the donor stated that she hoped they'd go for more than that, the assistant told her that they would send away the 'good stuff' to be eB*yed or sold at a 'better' shop in a good area. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

Locally there's one I go in for books / accessories, one I buy good quality and BNWT clothes in occasional, and one I avoid because of stupid pricing (Wanstead). Shame as its such a good cause.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Did she leave them in the end up? I'm sure I wouldn't have! That's the only thing about the AgeUK shop near me. It's brilliant for customers to get a bargain but but maybe not the best business sense for the shop? I bought a dress the other day, it had a boutique label on I didn't recognise, and on researching it I found it was an American boutique and the dress originally was probably worth about £150-£200! It's a strapless cocktail/prom style dress.
I'd love that lucky dip btw....big kid! :rotfl:0 -
On holiday in Norfolk last week .... and I'd packed totally wrong tops !
It was really quite cool and showery, so a Next navy and green jumper for 99p in the Age Concern shop in Kings Lynn was just what I needed! (And looked clean enough to wear straight away although I usually wash items from the chazzer).Normal people worry me.0 -
I got a brand new, in box, plug-in timer for £1. I have Economy7 electric so these are useful for switching things on for the cheap rate.0

I needed two black skirts for choir, one long, one short as I've dropped several dress sizes. Got a brand new bertetex short one (still had price tags and labels on) for £4.99 and a long M and S one for 50p from the reduced box from our BHF shop.
£4.99 didn't seem unreasonable at all to me for a new garment as similar skirts were over £20 in Bonne Marche; but the woman next to me said "that's a stupid price for a CS, it should be £1."
First time I've charity shopped for weeks, and I'm really chuffed with my findsEspecially as I only went in for birthday cards!
