What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

Not cheap, but definitely a bargain.
A side table in the Heart foundation furniture shop, needs a bit of sanding and waxing. Bought new £120 (apparently, as parent was looking at them for Christmas and decided that was silly money) I paid £30. With the added bonus that's it's very solid so even Gitdog should have a job knocking it over hence no more red wine stains on the carpet.).

Oh Polly - another similarity between us! I'm a great Michael Connolly fan - itching for him to bring out another book either of Bosch or Mickey Haller.
DH came shopping with me on Friday and managed to find a Bernard Cornwell but I didn't get anything - probably 'cos he's 'on a mission' & doesn't like browsing!! I've got to return some things to As*a tomorrow so I'll have a look then. I've got a bag of bits to donate so a good excuseSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Haha, went into my local CRUK and found a couple of Patrick Lencioni's business management parables I'd wanted for ages, in pristine condition (together BN would have retailed for £32.49!). I don't think the person donating realised what they were getting rid of! Also a book with similar themes to the one I misplaced yesterday, looking forward to getting stuck in now over my evening latte. All 3 for £5 no complaints.
Plus a lovely smart raincoat for the little one for £2.49, big for her atm but she'll make good use of it next year.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Totally forgot - I found a lovely slow cooker in one of the local CS. I'd bought a new one not realising it was round and I prefer the oval ones so I'm returning that today. My CS one is a better quality too.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy and that tempted me into Jo Nesbo.Totally forgot - I found a lovely slow cooker in one of the local CS. I'd bought a new one not realising it was round and I prefer the oval ones so I'm returning that today. My CS one is a better quality too.
Neither of the 2 I've got now (smallish round one and a massive 6.5 litre oval one) cook anywhere near as well.
It was the electrical base unit that failed and I've still got the crockpot and live in hope that I'll find one in a charity shop or boot sale.
One currently on ebay but it's £44.99. :eek:0 -

My lovely ex-MIL gave us a slow cooker that a rep had given her (she was a buyer) back in 1974 and it was used frequently for many years until it sadly died.

Yup - just bought the new Lee Child for DH as I've got him hooked, also read David Baldacchi & Jo Nesbo. Not heard of Nelson deMille so will keep a look out - thank you. Can recommend Peter May's Lewis Trilogy.
Polly - I have a base for an oval 3ltr slow cooker. Unfortunately the crock pot has a hairline crack which is why I needed a new one. If you think my base would fit your pot I'd be happy to send it to you ( think it was a Cookworks one)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Very kind offer for your slow cooker base but mine's round - I did try to post a picture but it was super-sized.
Here's a link to the one on ebay:

A great weekend for bargains0 -
Ooh Polly - can see why you'd like another one like it. The CS I went in had another oval one with two metal liners, one deep and one shallow but not big enough for me. Dont know how old it was but I did notice the heating base was much more substantial than they are now.
Took a bag of bits to my local CS but nothing 'grabbed' meSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
