The Community shop today had a lovely BNWT's Monsoon maxi sundress with the original price tag of £129 on it.....they were asking £7. Trouble was it was 2 sizes too big and I stood for ages trying to work out if I could alter it to fit. Decided it would be too complicated :(

Instead I bought a Jaegar fine linen shirt in a dark grey and white thin stripey pattern for £1.50.

    Very wise! :rotfl:
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

I bought a BN box of watercolour pencils for £1.99 on a whim yesterday - RRP £8.99 according to Google. Also a couple of thick compilations of small stories for 99p each, ideal airport-fodder :)

  • I bought two blue agate gemstone bookends priced at £2.50 as they had slight imperfections, from Julia's house warehouse. Most gemstones do anyway, they look great on my bookcase and when the sun shines on them they look great.

  • Popped into the chazzas on a whim today and they had a BOGOF on :)

Picked up a random patterned top in shades of purple and cream, it was a brand new Artscape top, still with QVC tag on. Then found another top, German and stripey with a bit of sparkle, also brand new with tags, brand is Esmara. Got both for £3.

A bit of research on the web revealed that Esmara is Lidl, still a good buy for £1.50.

This is the Artscape one, still for sale though now on clearance, and it's more aubergine than brown!

Bargains for me pretty thin on the ground recently.

Went to a new city on Saturday, quite a few charity shops.
The only bargains I got were 3 pair of BNWT M&S knickers (Oxfam).
Original price £8 each, reduced to 99p.

And the last book in the Shopaholic series 'Mini Shopaholic' 50p.
Got home to find I'd already got it in my library, although the new one is in slighly better condition. So I'll pass it on to my friend.

Been out up to the village this morning for the first time out since Saturday (had some sort of flu), done all the charity shops (6) and came home with nothing.

Had a couple of good finds today in our local Hospice Shop, two George dresses like new, a black long sleeved one that is quite fitted and a black/white short sleeved skater style one at £3 each I thought they would come in for work.

I know what you mean....I feel low with a chest infection but did 7 this morning, in a new area. All I came back with were books - interesting ones, but nothing I could get overly excited about!

I did overhear an interesting conversation in an Oxfam though - someone dared to open a negotiation on price on the books and was met with a v short answer! Apparently the books in this shop are not priced at 99p as they shift perfectly quickly at the current prices! (I bought a couple myself :D).

There haven't been any bargains locally for weeks now, but I'm going to a family wedding in Cambridge his weekend so will have a good browse there. Our local shops really do seem full of overpriced, very worn stuff recently. Wondering if it's because more people are HAVING to use them?

Hope you have fun at the wedding, Capella.
Cambridge has got some very good charity shops. The biggest concentration is on or near Burleigh Street, which includes Red Cross, BHF, Cancer Research, Mind, Scope, Oxfam and RSPCA.
I tend to go a trawl once a month or so. I'm generally on the look out forwork wear, but last month came out of Scope with 64 balls of very nice wool for £32, which will make me a couple of nice jumpers/ jackets while leaving me enough for presents for my yarnie friends.

I wonder if the dip in Charity Shop stocks is because its pre-Spring Cleaning Season? Everyone is still in their winter woolies and haven't started sorting out their wardrobes for spring/summer yet...

My only CS buy was a £1 pack of wooden spring clip clothes pegs from AgeUK - I've decided to revert to traditional wooden ones as plastic pegs seem to degrade and snap within a short time and are then just landfill. At least any defective wooden ones can be burnt on our open fire (every little helps)

Still looking for a lesser spotted pyrex measuring jug but they proving to be elusive!
