Managed to pick up a pair of black M & S ladies jeans and a white cotton top for the grand sum of £5.99. And a couple of weeks ago I bought a lovely, tiny, oil painting (about 4 inches by 4 inches), for £1.

If you'd asked me a year ago whether I would have bought clothes from a charity shop, I would have replied 'certainly not.' However my mind was changed when I went to volunteer in one, and I realised just how much good stuff got donated. I am also losing weight (three stone so far), so charity shops are a good way of cheaply replenishing a wardrobe.

I have to say that I now cannot pass a charity shop, without having a look in.....
  • Went into the Oxfam Bookshop to donate a bag of books, and came out with two for myself.

Aberystwyth Mon Amour by Malcolm Pryce
Last Tango in Aberystwyth by Malcolm Pryce

They were £2.49 each, which is more than I would normally spend on a book, but both books are in very good/like new condition, and they wouldn't be as cheap as that on Amazon for me anyway as non-Prime member.

Popped into the local cancer research shop today, had a quick look at clothes as per normal no plus sizes, on my way out I spotted a box with pictures in, so thought I would have a quick look through & spotted a rather nice beach dune scene, so thought I would ask how much just a pound, so I brought it thinking its a mass produced print worth at least it for the frame, imagine my surprise when I got it home and took the back off the frame to find it was a watercolour on paper, even bigger surprise was there was 2 more pictures one of a boat & another beach scene, all are signed C Rae. when I was putting the back back on spotted a message written to a couple with love from Catherine so would guess it might be the artist. Google & ebay produced no results but love my chazza buy.

Thoroughly enjoyed my walk in the sunshine to the hospice chazza sale first thing this morning. Only about half the usual number of people there so was a pleasure to wander about. Came away with an M & S Autograph 'posh' parka-type jacket in olive green, as new and fits perfectly, £4. (Is 'posh parka' a bit of an oxymoron?). Also found an unusual pleated wool long scarf in shades of stone through to tan for £1 which will tie together perfectly the colours of my stone raincoat and tan handbag/boots combo. Very pleased with today's bargains as I have found very little recently.

I agree, it's made a mess of this page. Shall we just chat among ourselves for the next eight posts so that the page turns over?
