  • I picked up a couple of chunky beaded necklaces at the weekend and I was wondering how people would go about cleaning something like that? One has wooden beads and the other has plastic ones

Does anyone else get the fleeting urge to barter when this happens or is it just me? :o
I've haggled with the best of them in all sorts of different places in the world but I wouldn't in a charity shop - unless there was something wrong with the item e.g. a mark on that might or might not come out. :)

not something i bought, but donated today. In the major pre-christmas declutter I took a hideous fiber optic lamp to the British heart foundation furniture shop (hubby would not let me take it to the tip as it was too good). a woman in the shop showed interest as we took it in and has already put her name on it - although is having to wait for them to test it.

We were both a bit gobsmacked.

Did the rounds today, although one of my favourite little ones turned out to be closed. And I still haven't managed to find a gift for a hard to buy for family member.

My current handbag (bought about 4 years ago for £3.50 from a charity shop) has about had it, so I've been looking for a new one for a while. Found an Iron Fist one in great condition for £2.50. :D (Just had a look on ebay and the same one has sold recently for £18.00)

Was on best behaviour and put down most of the Christmas decorations I looked at, only buying a set of 5 vintage ones for 50p.

Then there was a large egg cup in the shape of an ice cream cone for 50p that I'm going to use as a base for a craft project and a children's toy also for 50p that will be another present for the dog.

Bought this afternoon from Scope a pack of Christmas cards at reduced price, 99p for 12. Not the most riveting design. but better that the marked price £3.99.

    Hi all :)

I'm having a great week charity shopping this week. I had a look around Kidderminster today, I don't go too often as I always have to take my 2 year old shopping hating son with me.

Scope had all children's clothes for 50p, got lots for my son Baby K (Myleene Klass, Joules, Ted Baker) polo shirts in his next size and Next jumper. And for my soon to be born daughter a really cute Next sheep knitted wooley jumper and some bird print leggings.

Charity shop across the road, I forget the name, I picked up a Hatley Dinosaur print coat in the next size for my son.£2.99, these retail around £30ish so huge bargain.

    Suze :)

Cloth & Stone denim style shirt. It's longer at the back than the front, so it'll look great with some leggings. Cost me £2.50. I'd never heard of the brand before but the label looked really nice, so I googled it whilst I was in the shop and it seems it would retail for about £80

I also got a black and white kind of checkered scarf in a really soft material. No original tag on it but it was £1.50 so can't really argue with that!
